It’s the time of year the leaves begin to change up north, while football leagues shape out and the playoff picture starts to unfold. Here are 4 games to watch this weekend in Northern Michigan.
Games to Watch
(4-1) Sault area @ (3-2) Grayling: Currently in 4th place in the absolutely massive Northern MI league, Sault area is looking to continue their hunt for the league title, as well as playoff seeding. The area Sault area does the very best is in the trenches, which is led by T John Bruke and DT Adam Horrigan. As for Grayling, they have the opposite strength, and that’s greatness in the secordary and the receiving core, led by WR Dylan Cragg and CB Marcus Chard. Sault area will be favored considering the DIII status vs Grayling’s D6 status, but don’t count Grayling out as they’re one of the best in the division.
(4-1) Cadillac @ (4-1) Traverse City Central: Here’s another very intriguing matchup that’s going to play a role in the playoffs. Traverse City Central sits just about where we’d thought they’d be at this point of the season, at a comfortable 4-1 with the one loss being against and incredible DeWitt team. Of course, Central is best known for their all-star Notre Dame commit Joshua Burnham Joshua Burnham 6'3" | 205 lbs | LB Traverse City Central | 2022 State MI . Cadillac on the other end is a good veer team that made the state championship last year. Collin Johnston and Chris Reinhold Jr. have been a great two-headed monster for Cadillac, but will it be enough to get past the elite Central defense?
(4-1) Marquette @ (4-1) Clare: Now, Marquette is off to a familiar start winning the games they’re supposed to win, and they’re overall in a great postseason position. The connection between Justin Jurmu Justin Jurmu 6'1" | 205 lbs | TE Marquette | 2022 MI and Austin Ridl is a lethal one that should give many teams problems. Though this could surely be a trap game for the Redmen, as Clare sits at 4-1 in winners of 4 straight blowouts. QB Jacob Recker has been amazing, and SO DE Jake Punches anchors the defense.
(1-3) Oscoda @ (1-5) Harbor Springs: Needless to say this isn’t the start either team was looking to have. Oscoda’s only win has been against a winless Tawas team, and they’re just not playing great football in general. Kaden Schirmer Kaden Schirmer 6'3" | 280 lbs | OL Oscoda | 2022 MI has been a nice standout being among the best interior linemen in the state, but other than that the Owls need to get better. Harbor Springs sufferes the game conclusion, they haven’t been playing good and a win for either team here is going to be huge moving forward.
