We evaluated 10 prospects that made our Big Dogs of the Game from this battle for 4A in which the #2 Becker Bulldogs will take over as the #1 team in 4A, after beating #1 Hutchinson, 21-12. Who are those big dogs? Let’s just say there’s a lot of Bulldogs on this list as they certainly fit the narrative of our weekly column.
Ethan Anderson | Defensive Back | Becker | 2022
Anderson showed a high level of contact against Hutchinson on Friday night. As a strong safety going up against a run-heavy offense, Anderson showed his crashing ability to get to the ball carrier and logged double-digit tackles for the Bulldogs on Friday night. In some film from last year, he shows a solid reading ability of the ball carrier’s eyes, and with more pass-heavy teams can read when the ball is going his way and will jump the route. Also a team captain for the Becker Bulldogs.
Levi Teetzel Levi Teetzel 5'11" | 190 lbs | ATH Hutchinson | 2023 State MN | Athlete | Hutchinson | 2023
The biggest dog of the game for the Hutchinson Tigers, for sure was Levi Teetzel. Teetzel showed at halfback a lot of great footwork between the inside lanes to find a gap and had good explosion speed thru those gaps. On the outside lanes, he showed a hard-nosed runner that could get yards after contact. College coaches will for sure have to watch this young man’s skillset at its full potential in the last clip of his game tape vs. Becker.
Harrison Kent | Linebacker | Becker | 2023
Kent had a double-digit tackle game against Hutchinson and used his physical presence to force a fumble on the Tigers. I really enjoyed watching this young man’s motor throughout Friday night’s game as he was in on so many key defensive plays for the Bulldogs. He has a well-put-together frame (6’2 195) that plays fierce and has a lot of lower body strength to get solid leverage on the ball carrier he’s making contact with. This young man has a good pedigree too, as his older sister Adeline Kent is headed to the University of Tampa to play college basketball. Kent is for sure an under-the-radar 2023 LB prospect to watch from this deep Bulldogs linebacking core, as he gets more film.
Game Tape vs. Spring Lake Park
Logan Hoppe Logan Hoppe 6'4" | 235 lbs | DL Hutchinson | 2023 State MN | Defensive Tackle | Hutchinson | 2023
Hoppe was one of the hardest working prospects in the trenches for the Tigers against Becker. He gobbled up multiple ball carriers and did a solid job of closing that gap and logging multiple key tackles on Friday night. He shows active hands and a good get off his blocks to eat up the inside rushing lanes of the Tigers defense. At 6’4 230, Hoppe in my eyes has some great skillsets to play football at the next level.
Dylan Weber Dylan Weber 6'1" | 185 lbs | LB Becker | 2023 State MN | Linebacker | Becker | 2023
Weber had a heck of a start to the second half as he keyed in on multiple tackles on one down alone. I have not gotten the game tape yet but based on his early-season tape, Weber has shown just how valuable he is at linebacker. He has a fighter mentality to get to the football, and in my eyes gets thru the most traffic to make a play on the football as he dominates his defender before he sheds off and releases that fight on the ball carrier. Weber can also cover a significant cushion of the field, as you will see him running sideline to sideline to make a play on the football. Let’s just say there is another stud at linebacker in the making with the last name Weber that will be a scholarship-level prospect when it’s all said and done.
Aaron Elliott Aaron Elliott 6'3" | 215 lbs | LB Hutchinson | 2022 State MN | Linebacker | Hutchinson | 2022
Elliott connected on multiple tackles for the Hutchinson defense on Friday night. He has a strong shed ability inside in which he uses his speed to get between the linemen to make a play on the football. He is another linebacker prospect on this list that has a solid cushion as far as the area he can cover as he also can pack a punch when he’s in pursuit about to make waves on the ball carrier. Elliott also has solid foot speed when moving laterally, which makes him such an asset at the linebacker position. Elliott is a prospect I think is well-deserving of more attention in the Northern Sun.
Nick Berglund | Wide Receiver | Becker | 2022
Berglund was the most off-the-radar prospect I got to watch last night who logged two touchdowns for the Becker Bulldogs. Berglund’s measurables are not huge, but what I liked most about his game was his footwork as he did a solid job getting separation especially using his quick instincts for the Bulldog’s third touchdown of the night where he hugged the sidelines and brought in a tough catch in the end zone. Berglund has more clips from the hardwood but had an outstanding game on the gridiron on Friday night.
Landen Goebel | Defensive Back/Wide Receiver | Becker | 2022
Goebel was the icing on the cake for the Bulldogs in sealing the victory over #1 Hutchinson in 4A. He brought in a tough catch that was overthrown but he was able to read it well enough to catch it over his shoulder, and then take it into Bulldogs territory. Goebel was one of the biggest top performers for the Bulldogs on both sides of the ball as far as my eyes could see. He showed good speed and had good footwork along with getting yards after contact along the sidelines.
Game Tape vs. Hutch (watch #28)
Carter Callahan | Fullback/Linebacker | Becker | 2022
If you are a college football program looking for a well-put-together fullback, look no further than 6’1 230 pounder Carter Callahan from Becker. When I watched Callahan on Friday night, I saw a young man that fights for every yard he can get inside, and if there is an opening there, you will see his good speed break out too as he runs well for his size. Callahan also came up big at linebacker on Friday, logging an interception in which jumped coverage and escaped for a 20-yard gain off the turnover. I watched some of Callahan’s junior tape and this is what I grasped. He sheds off so much contact on every run I see I am surprised that more college football programs haven’t reached out as Callahan runs like a bull at the rodeo that no one wants to mess with.
Ryan Bengtson Ryan Bengtson 5'9" | 160 lbs | QB Becker | 2023 State MN | Quarterback | Becker | 2023
Bengtson did a super great job hitting his marks on Friday night. He completed 80% of his passes against the Hutchinson Tigers and showed off a wicked quick release off the snap. There also is a lot to like about this young man’s arm strength as he throws a great deep ball with good precision. Ryan showed us why on Friday night he’s a first-teamer of our All-Sherburne County Team I put together earlier this year. It looks to be that the Bulldogs will have another QB1 that should get some opportunities to play college football.
