Here are some players that played lights out on Saturday.
Soldan
QB LaVonta Clerk LaVonta Clerk 5'10" | 165 lbs | ATH Soldan | 2022 MO c/o 22. Clerk had another amazing game. Although the Tigers struggled in the passing game, Clerk and the Soldan offense ran the ball down the field all day against the Comets. Clerk saw the end zone a few times. Clerk is very agile and smart on the field. He once again proved that him and the Tigers can compete with anybody in the city.
RB Ronald Holmes Ronald Holmes 5'4" | 150 lbs | RB Soldan | 2022 MO c/o 22. Holmes was a huge asset to Soldan’s run game. He had numerous breakout runs that led to touchdowns. Holmes also scored the last touchdown that put the nail in the coffin. His speed and quickness helped Soldan stay in the game. Holmes may be undersized, at 5-foot-4 and 150 pounds, but he runs hard every play.
OL Conrad Tatum Conrad Tatum 5'11" | 275 lbs | OL Soldan | 2022 MO c/o 22. Tatum is a heavy hitter when it comes to blocking for his quarterback. He has good endurance when it comes to run blocking and he’s light on his feet. He is a good pass blocker as well.
McCluer
WR Dennis Keyes Dennis Keyes 6'2" | 170 lbs | WR McCluer | 2022 State MO c/o 22. Keyes made some outstanding catches against Soldan. He made an ESPN catch down the sideline that gave the Comets momentum going into the second half. Keyes uses his height to his advantage when going up for a jump ball and wins every time. He has great hands and is very elusive when he’s in the open field.
QB Micheal Hopkins Micheal Hopkins 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB McCluer | 2022 MO c/o 22. Hopkins had an outstanding game against Soldan. He not only had a great passing game, he also got the job done on the ground as well. He made numerous people miss and was very accurate in his throws.
WR Kameron Gillespie Kameron Gillespie 5'11" | 185 lbs | WR McCluer | 2022 State MO c/o 22. Gillespie got the job done at receiver. Along with Keyes, he made a lot of great catches and gained a lot of yards when he ran the jet sweep. Gillespie set the tone in the first quarter and was consistent throughout the game. He also made some pretty good blocks whenever he wasn’t getting the ball.
DB Kyson Jackson Kyson Jackson 5'9" | 150 lbs | ATH McCluer | 2022 MO c/o 22. Jackson had a good game at corner. He had good eye discipline and had a few good pass breakups against the Tigers’ receiver. Jackson also made some really good tackles and had good outside containment.
