Gadsden City held Hoover only to nine points in the first half of the game, and to 0 points in the first quarter. There was some extreme talent on the defensive side of the ball that had a positive impact on the game. Let’s dig into some top defensive weapons:
SS/OLB Paul Thompson, 6’2 195lbs, Hoover High School
What a stud of an athlete for the Bucs, Paul Thompson! Thompson is a true definition of a player that can play any position on the defensive side of the ball. He has such a great pursuit angle that leads him to making great athletic tackles on the outside perimeters. Watching Thompson do what Thompson know best to do, I have noticed this guy is a hustler who loves getting to the ball creating huge plays for that Bus defense! I have been following this guy for a while and he shows every bit of a hard worker on and off the field which lead to him receiving a D1 FCS offer from North Alabama Lions in early august. Thompson has wrecked the whole game against Gadsden City by leading with 6 solo tackles and 2 tackles for loss. Thompson easily led the Bucs defense to a dominating game from the beginning to the end! I absolutely believe that Thompson is very versatile and has every bit of potential to land in a top roll in class 7A football for the state of Alabama.
ATH D’Andre Kirtpatrick, 5’11 180lbs Gadsden City High School
This young standout athlete is all over the field on defense. Kirtpatrick is a young athlete that carries a load of a veteran in the secondary for Gadsden City. The opportunity to learn more about Kirtpatrick is so amazing and I felt that Kirtpatrick is a guy who will jump up in the pols soon, as he develops into a better athlete. the thing that makes him so unique is that throughout the whole game he used his football IQ to track other players and make huge plays for Gadsden City. Kirkpatrick has used mega instincts to demonstrate great angles and tackling form to help lead the defense during the whole game. Kirkpatrick as great speed and a good drive to get in between blockers to make tackles in tight spaces. I think that D’Andre Kirkpatrick will be a top player in the state, I would keep a lookout for his name!
DL Markus Clark Markus Clark 6'2" | 270 lbs | DL Hoover | 2022 State AL , 6’0 285lbs, Hoover High School
Markus is an all-around defensive lineman that can play the inside and out. every time I see this stud play he’s always dominating on some way. He recorded 3 tackles, 3 solo tackles, and had 2 tackles for loss in Hoover’s win over Gadsden City. This kid is very strong up front and has very good leverage up front against any offensive lineman. Markus shows relentless effort in all phases of the game that makes him so much valuable in his recruiting process. This 3-star defensive standout is always on my radar for a top performer, he also stands with 23 offers to so great Division 1 FBS Schools and to be honest, I think he will get a lot more!
DL Samuel Horton Samuel Horton 6'4" | 240 lbs | DL Gadsden City | 2022 State AL , 6’4 240lbs, Gadsden City High School
Samuel is a guy that shows up to every game going hard for 60 minutes straight! This defensive stud had 3 tackle, 2 solo tackles and 1 Tackle for loss against the Hoover Bucs! This guy has been training very hard throughout his off-season and I see so much different abilities in him such as quickness off the ball and violent hands. I think that this kid has what it takes to be very special throughout this season. Samuel has committed to Austin Peay University back in August and I can tell you all that this university is getting a bad man that will wreck anyone’s offensive line unit.
