The atmosphere was set- a packed house on a beautiful Friday evening. The game kicked off and began with great defensive showings by both teams, with an East GR Field goal following a fumble. Then, Grand Rapids Christian had a well-established drive which was capped off by a 30-yard run by Aviere Thomas. The score quickly became 7-3 early in the 1st quarter.

From there on out, the defenses showed up. Here are some athletes who continued to show out as the game went on.
LB CJ Jones – With multiple GLIAC offers, Jones is an established talent who played a huge role in defeating East Grand Rapids last night. Jones has an impressive frame at 6’2, 215, and makes aggressive reads barreling past blockers and making tackles. Jones had a great handful of tackles and a forced fumble last night, in addition to being a key piece for the Eagle offense.
RB/FS Averie Thomas – Although both offenses were greatly halted, Thomas scored a nice early touchdown as seen above. Thomas is a good elusive back who follows his blocks and attacks holes when they open. In addition, he’s a force on defense as a very good safety. Overall good performance by a leader for the Christian Offense.
OLB/FB Nathias Grady Nathias Grady 6'1" | 220 lbs | LB East Grand Rapids | 2022 MI – A bright spot for East Grand Rapids, Grady scored their only TD, in addition to a fumble recovery, and being a defensive leader. Although East Grand Rapids did not come out with the win, they did recover 3 fumbles partly thanks to Grady’s effort.
East Grand Rapids (1-2) goes on to face Byron Center (3-0), While Chrisitan faces Greenville* (0-2)
