The matchup between Skutt Catholic and Bennington featured two of the top teams in Class B. Skutt Catholic has been rolling lately behind the arm of Wyoming commit Caden Becker Caden Becker 6'4" | 225 lbs | QB Skutt Catholic | 2022 State NE and the legs of RB Maccoy Holtam. Skutt also has a tough, physical defense that loves to hit and smother opposing quarterbacks. Bennington holds claim to one of the most impressive rushing attacks in the state, along with one of the most experienced offensive lines. Their RB tandem of Dylan Mostek Dylan Mostek 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Bennington | 2022 State NE and Nick Colvert is electrifying with their ability to score on any given run. Skutt Catholic came into the game undefeated against Bennington throughout their school history, which created a chip on the Badger’s shoulders. The Badger’s offense started hot with a long touchdown pass from Trey Bird to Cayden Bluhm Cayden Bluhm 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Bennington | 2022 State NE and continued to roll from that point on. The difference in the ball game was Bennington’s push at the line of scrimmage. Mostek and Colvert were able to pick up touchdowns on long runs and helped the Badger’s control the tempo. The Skyhawk offense was able to get into the endzone on a Caden Becker Caden Becker 6'4" | 225 lbs | QB Skutt Catholic | 2022 State NE run early in the game. They could put together some promising drives, but the Badger defense was lights out in the red zone, shutting them down every time except for the Becker score. Bennington picks up a victory, sending a message to the rest of the division that they are for real. Skutt Catholic will continue to grind as they still have a talented squad and are now a crushing loss to motivate them if their paths cross again.
Final: Bennington 42 – Skutt Catholic 7
MVP: Trey Bird (Class of 2023 – Bennington)
QB – Hudl
6’1″ 160
- Trey did an excellent job managing the offense and distributing the ball to the playmakers around him. He seemed very comfortable in the pocket and made smart throws.
- He can throw the deep ball very well. Found Cayden Bluhm Cayden Bluhm 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Bennington | 2022 State NE twice downfield and he put them right on the money both times.
- Elusive runner, as well; he ripped a 40-yard run that would set up a touchdown.
Caden Becker Caden Becker 6'4" | 225 lbs | QB Skutt Catholic | 2022 State NE (Class of 2022 – Skutt Catholic)
QB – Hudl
6’4″ 220 lbs
- A very mobile and elusive quarterback that can move around the pocket with ease.
- He has a big frame and is super hard to bring down on first contact.
- Showed the arm talent that made Wyoming swoop up the Skyhawk; he can put the ball right where it needs to be.
- Inconsistency by the offense held Becker and the offense from getting comfortable.
Cayden Bluhm Cayden Bluhm 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Bennington | 2022 State NE (Class of 2022 – Bennington)
WR – Hudl
6’1″ 170
- Bluhm should be getting more attention. He is so explosive off the line and can create separation to get open deep.
- Bluhm is super, super-fast and can take the top off of a defense.
- He’s a willing blocker in the run game and will block a DB out of the play— a big team-first mentality type player.
Maccoy Holtam (Class of 2023 – Skutt Catholic)
RB/OLB – Hudl
6’2″ 185 lbs
- Tough old-school style north and south runner.
- Holtam will run you over or hit you with a mean stiff arm. He’s very mean and physical when he gets his legs churning.
- He’s a solid option in the passing game as well. He can be lined up in the slot and has excellent hands.
- Maccoy is also a skilled DB; he displayed great play recognition, fluid hips, excellent ball skills, and good speed.
Dylan Mostek Dylan Mostek 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Bennington | 2022 State NE (Class of 2022 – Bennington)
RB – Hudl
5’10” 195
- This dude is GOOD! Mostek can hit the corner with tons of burst and acceleration, and he’s tough to track down once he’s in the open field.
- His cutting ability and shiftiness are exciting to watch. He is so twitchy and can stun defenders in their place.
- Top-notch vision with great instincts and speed to hit paydirt on any play.
G
Kade Crouse (Class of 2022 – Skutt Catholic)

- Crouse has a strong punch and has a good get-off that allows him to crash the edge.
- Very athletic and versatile, he can play the OLB/EDGE hybrid position.
Jake Stier Jake Stier 6'2" | 275 lbs | OL Bennington | 2022 State NE (Class of 2022 – Bennington)
OL/DL – Hudl

- He is a STRONG, STRONG dude!
- Steir can move kids at will and has a powerful punch that gives him the advantage on either side of the line.
- Very agile for his size and can move east and west with no problem.
Jackson Chandler (Class of 2022 – Skutt Catholic)
LB – Hudl
6’0″ 200 lbs
- He does a good job getting off of his blocks and getting into the backfield.
- A very physical player and he leaves a mark when he makes the tackle.
- Shuts down short passes to the flats and other checkdowns- he has great instincts.
Mitchell Anderson (Class of 2022 – Bennington)
DB/WR – Hudl
5’11” 165 lbs
- Anderson is an outstanding talent at CB, and it’s not just his physical ability that makes him great, but the mental part of the game as well. He recognizes plays and communicates well with the defenders.
- He can flip his hip very well and is fluid when changing directions.
- Anderson also has great ball skills and will make plays on the ball or rip it out of the receiver’s hands.
- He would be an excellent pick-up at DB.
Liam Werner Liam Werner 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Skutt Catholic | 2022 State NE (Class of 2022 – Skutt Catholic)
LB – Hudl
6’2″ 215 lbs
- Liam is a big frame linebacker that can cover large chunks of the field with his quickness.
- He was all over the field, making tackles and giving max effort.
- Werner is a hard-hitting linebacker, consistent with his technique, and wraps up at the point of contact.
Nick Colvert (Class of 2023 – Bennington)
RB – Hudl
5’8″ 150 lbs
- Colvert might have some of the quickest feet I have seen. Lightning-quick feet with great shiftiness and ability to change direction.
- Excellent field vision and awareness of the open lanes.
- He slashes and gashes through defenses so nicely, and he’s a very smooth runner.
- Mostek and Colvert’s running styles complement each other very well, and both are great at keeping the defense on their toes.
Connor Brecht (Class of 2022 – Bennington)
LB – Hudl
5’10″ 170 lbs
- Connor finished the night with two sacks and was a constant terror in the backfield.
- Helped limit the running game and the number of long gains.
- He provides a tough, high-motor presence to the middle of the defense. I loved watching how fired up he was all game.
