The fourth week of the season brought some exciting games that went down to the wire, and it was the week of the underdog, as multiple top ranked teams were upset. Here’s a recap of some prospects that earned game balls during this week of madness.
Ashton Dowell Ashton Dowell 6'1" | 170 lbs | QB Hoxie | 2022 State KS – Hoxie, QB, Class of ’22
Dowell may play at the 8-Man level, but he put up 11-Man passing numbers in a high-scoring affair against Trego. Hoxie came up short in the shootout, but Dowell made plays to keep the Indians in the game. He threw the ball a ton; going 23 of 44 for 306 yards with six touchdown passes and added 52 yards with his legs.
Harlem Miller – Medicine Lodge, DL, Class of ’24
This sophomore played a key role in the trenches in Medicine Lodge’s narrow victory against Moundridge. He played well on both sides of the ball, but it was his performance on defense that caught our eye. Miller racked up 11 total tackles, two being for losses and added one sack. His play through four weeks has earned him a spot in the next Class of ’24 player rankings update.
Scott Price – Bucklin, ATH, Class of ‘22
Price is the third 8-Man prospect to earn a game ball from Week 4. He put together one of the best all-around performances of the season so far, regardless of classification level. On offense, Price accounted for 210 yards with six scores, and did it all while only touching the ball 14 times. His night didn’t stop there though. On defense he piled up 21 total tackles with a forced fumble.
Greyson Holbert Greyson Holbert 6'1" | 185 lbs | ATH Blue Valley | 2022 State KS – Blue Valley, ATH, Class of ’22
Week 4 presented a big-time matchup for the 4th ranked athlete in the Class of ’22, and he rose to the occasion. Holbert led the Tigers past Aquinas in a 38-35 overtime thriller. The senior got it done through the air and on the ground, as he threw for 170 yards with two touchdown passes and rushed for 147 yards with two scores.
Keyan Miller Keyan Miller 5'7" | 195 lbs | RB Concordia | 2022 State KS – Concordia, RB, Class of ’22
We normally try to highlight different prospects in these game ball features, but there was no way Miller’s Week 4 performance could go without mentioning. He had a monster night, as he shattered Concordia’s school record for rushing yards in a game. Miller carried the ball 16 times for 401 yards and scored five touchdowns. He helped lead the Panthers to a huge win over Council Grove.
Tyler Voss – Colby, RB, Class of ’22
The Eagles snapped their two-game losing streak during Week 4 after beating Smoky Valley 39-14. Voss led the charge for them offensively, as he carried the ball 32 times and went on to rush for 235 yards with three touchdowns. Colby will need another big performance from Voss in Week 5, as they prepare to take on undefeated SE of Saline.
Harrison Voth Harrison Voth 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Cheney | 2022 State KS – Cheney, QB, Class of ’22
It was business as usual for Voth and the Cardinals, as they cruise to a 4-0 record after defeating Hugoton 49-7. The senior only played in the first half, but still managed to put up some impressive numbers. He went 11 of 18 for 198 yards with six touchdown tosses and chipped in 66 yards on the ground. Voth is on pace to have another phenomenal season.
Chase Poague – SE of Saline, WR, Class of ’22
Poague has gotten off to a fast start through the first half of the ’21 season. He’s the Trojans’ leading receiver and has already surpassed his numbers from last year. In their Week 4 win over Russell, Poague caught six passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns. He should continue to be one of the top wide outs in the 3A ranks the rest of the season.
Mason Ellis Mason Ellis 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH Mulvane | 2022 State KS – Mulvan, ATH, Class of ’22
The North Dakota State commit played great against a tough squad from Circle this past week. He showed good awareness in the pocket and made some big throws down the field. Ellis went on to go 17 of 26 for 315 yards and accounted for four total touchdowns. The versatile athlete made some key plays at corner as well.
