Floyd Sandlin III – Homestead – DE/OLB – 6’2″ 205 lbs
Sandlin was all over the field on Friday and they lined him up in multiple positions. He was rushing the passer on almost every down and forcing pressure. He was able to get in the face of the quarterback almost on a regular basis. Sandlin finally got home late in the game and was able to get a sack to help ice a key drive.
CJ Davis CJ Davis 5'11" | 175 lbs | DB Ft. Wayne Northrop | 2023 State IN – Northrop – CB – 5’10″ 165 lbs
Davis was able to make his impact literally right away in the game. Carroll tried to go deep and Becker threw a great ball, but Davis was able to go up and make the interception and return the ball quite a way for a decent return. Davis then made a few tackles and broke up another pass later in the game. A solid and consistent performance against one of, if not the best, quarterbacks in the area.
Shawn Collins – Wayne – RB/CB – 5’10″ 187 lbs
Collins was great on Friday when the ball was actually thrown to him. He locked down his guys pretty much all game and it was a no-fly zone. When the ball finally did get thrown in his direction, Collins made the play. He was able to jump up and make an interception right before halftime to prevent them from scoring. Collins is a decent athlete and is only getting better at playing DB. With time, he’s going to be a great defender.
Lane Norris – Central Noble – OL/DL – 6’2″ 270 lbs
Norris was a great example of consistency on Friday. He was pressuring the quarterback on almost every play and even got home for a sack once. The biggest impact he made was a 4th and goal call where he split the A gap and blew up the play to force a turnover on downs. Prarie Heights couldn’t move the ball or score on Friday and Norris was a big reason why. Steady and consistent was the motto he followed and it worked out great.
Josh Arntz – Columbia City – CB – 5’8″ 180 lbs
Arntz was able to make his impact finally on Friday. He is someone who goes out there Friday and busts his tail to make plays and positively impact the game. Arntz was able to do so on the biggest drive of the game where he read the quarterback’s eyes, sat back, waited for the ball to be thrown, and he jumped the ball, and made the play. He raced the ball down to the opposing 40-yard line before being tackled. Columbia City ended up holding on for the win and Arntz’s interception helped with that.
