Outside of that, they have dominated their competition, as they have had 3 shutouts so far against teams such as Rome, Alpharetta, and East Coweta. Outside of this, they have won within a decent margin, as they defeated Brookwood, 36-10, and Greenville Christian 37-22. At this point of the season, they look to be able to pull off an undefeated season when it is all said an done. This week, as they play Peachtree Ridge, their Regional play will begin, and we fully expect them to come out on top.
Perhaps one of the bigger reasons why Collins Hill has had so much success so far this season is due to the high leve of play from their defense. It should could as no surprise that players such as Travis Hunter Travis Hunter 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Collins Hill | 2022 State GA , who happens to be the best player in the state, is a big reason for this. At this point of the season, Hunter has already had 2 interceptions, and 16 total tackles. To add to this, the team also already has 7 players with over 30 sacks. This includes the likes of Jayden Davis, Richard Ransom, Roberto Bryant, Deon Crawford, Asani Redwood, Rich Dorsey, and Jaylen George Jaylen George 6'2" | 250 lbs | OL Collins Hill | 2022 State GA . Out of this group, 4 players have already recorded 40+ tackles, and this includes Bryant, Crawford, Redwood, and Dorsey. To add to all of this, the defense has also shown out when it comes to sacks. As a whole, the team has 39 sacks, with the leaders being Redwood, with 10, Crawford with 9, and George with 7. To make things even more exciting, outside of Hunter, the team also has 4 other interceptions on the season, which more the proves how dominant they have been playing all around.
The Eagles have also played very well on offense this 2021 season, as they have put up 183 points in the 5 games that they have played. In each of these games, it can also be seen that they have yet to score less than 30 points this year. Going into week 7, QB Sam Horn Sam Horn 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB Collins Hill | 2022 State GA has already passed for 1,346 yards and 12 TD’s. He has managed to do all of this while maintaining a very high completion percentage. A large portion of these passes, and TD’s have gone to Travis Hunter Travis Hunter 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Collins Hill | 2022 State GA , who has already had 43 receptions for over 670 yards and 5 TD’s. While other receivers have also had success, players such as Cam Pedro, and Ethan Davis also stand out. So far, Pedro has totaled around 245 receiving yards and 2 TD’s, while Davis has also contributed with 178 yards and a TD of his own. To top off a very successful aerial attack, the Eagles have also had success on the ground, as they have rushed for a total of 753 yards so far this year. While Horn has contributed with over 160 yards on the ground and 2 TD’s, Ryan Stephens and Spenser Anderson have led the way in this regard. Stephens leads the team with 253 yards, but it is Anderson who has had 4 TD’s and 204 yards total. Needless to say, if the Eagles can continue to keep their offense rolling, especially with how their defense is performing, they can expect to see themselves in contention for a state championship this season.
