While head coach Eric Schmitz and this team would like more, it is a process, and this team is looking for consistency to help this program grow and get back in the playoff mix.
With prospects such as seniors Jaden Griffin (5-10, 170, RB/DB – 3.42 GPA), who went to states on the 4×1 relay team, is a tough, physical runner with speed. Never comes off the field. Landis Randleman (5-9 155 CB) is another solid track prospect who also returns kicks). Carson Burbee (6-3, 230, TE/LB – 3.05 GPA) starts both ways and is a smart football player. Played Guard as a sophomore and has developed.
Kent Thoits 6-0, 175, WR – 2.5 GPA) only started playing football his junior year, but has learned a lot. So has Alex Calhoun (6-4, 285, OL/DL – 2.7 GPA), Joey Perz (6-5, 280, OL), a first-year starter at left tackle. Tough, physical lineman and kicker Logan Gregory Logan Gregory K Clearwater Countryside | 2022 FL , a three-year starter at kicker/punter.
In addition, other Class of 2022 prospects to watch include Dalton Baird (WR/DB, 5-8, 150 – 3.31 GPA), Isaac Baron (DL/LB, 6-1, 190 – 2.84 GPA), Dylan Cassidy (DB/WR, 5-9, 150 – 3.45 GPA), Preston Mercado (RB, 5-8, 150), Shawn San Antonio (WR, 5-9, 180 – 2.8 GPA), Nick Sanson (DL, 5-9, 210), Maximus Serrano (DB, 6-1, 190 – 3.33 GPA) and Dillon Stapp (QB/DB, 6-1, 170).
UNDERCLASSMEN WILL BE THE ANSWER
As the senior class is providing that experience and leadership, the Cougars will get plenty of talent from the current juniors, sophomores and freshmen.
Some of those juniors who could impact this program include Caleb Brecher OL/DL, 6-2, 245 – 3.46 GPA), Fisher Brewer (LB/TE, 5-11, 210 – 2.82 GPA), Jalyn Brown (WR/DB, 6-1, 170 – 2.63 GPA), Marcus Coleman (WR/DB, 5-7, 160 – 3.61 GPA), Shia Farmer (DL, 6-1, 200 – 2.92 GPA), Cecil Jackson (DL, 6-1, 215 – 2.64 GPA) and 6-1, 160 receiver Terrance Jackson.
Also, the junior Elijah Mills (DB/LB, 6-2, 170 – 2.6 GPA), Matt Nigels (WR, 6-2, 170 – 2.59 GPA), Josh Rittenberry (LB, 5-10, 190), Carlos Rivera II (RB/LB, 5-6, 155), Garrett Rodriguez (QB/DB, 6-1, 180 – 2.94 GPA), Michael Taylor (RB, 5-6, 140 – 2.9 GPA), Josiah Wetzel (DB, 6-0, 190), Canaan Whiting (DB/FB, 5-10, 200) and linebacker/tight end Maurice Williams (6-0, 190 – 2.87 GPA).
The Class of 2024 sophomores also have prospects that are ready to make an impression.
Players like Alden Brown (LB, 6-3, 180), Andrey Derybin (WR/LB, 6-1, 160), Anthony Gaito (WR/DB, 5-11, 155), Brandon Lincoln (TE/DE, 6-2, 215), Gabriel Ruiz (DL, 6-1, 270), Jaden Sanders (LB, 5-9, 175), Max Sheffield (TE/LB, 6-6, 215) and offensive lineman Aiden Short (5-11, 235).
Other sophomores that are expected to be the future of this program include Eric Suhoza (OL/DL,5-10, 280), Demarcus Wallace (DL, 6-2, 220), Javar Williams (DB, 6-2, 180), Jacob Winowiski (WR/DB) and linebacker Cayson Wright (5-9, 165).
Freshmen will also be a part of the Cougars’ future – with Jakobe McCoy (RB/LB, 6-0, 190) and promising offensive lineman Daniel Richter, a 6-2, 285-pounder.
