Xavion Felton, 5-foot-11 195 pound running back, 2023, Junction City:
Felton has been a battering ram from the fullback position all this season, throwing powerful blocks and running the ball effectively. But when starting quarterback David Rowell went down with an injury, it was Felton who took the snaps at crunch time. Felton bulled his way in from 1 yard out, then ran for the conversion to give the #9 ranked Blue Jays the one-point win over #7 Washburn Rural in a battle of 6A foes.
Ma’Kenttis Adams Ma’Kenttis Adams 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Washburn Rural | 2023 State KS , 5-foot-9, 185 pound running back, 2023, Washburn Rural:
Adams added another score to his resume with a 4-yard run, the Junior Blues’ only touchdown in regulation. Adams is a swift, shift back who has racked up a lot of yards and scores already this year as the Junior Blues’ primary ball carrier.
PJ Vargas PJ Vargas 5'11" | 185 lbs | WR Seaman | 2022 State KS , 5-foot-11, 185 pound receive, 2022, Seaman:
A lot of Seaman players have grabbed headlines this year, but it’s time to give Vargas some attention. He has been a go-to target for quarterback Camden Barta Camden Barta 6'3" | 200 lbs | ATH Seaman | 2022 State KS , and he turned in two huge receptions against Topeka West. Vargas scored on passes that went for 58 and 71 yards Friday.
Vinny Smith, 6-foot, 187 pound running back, 2022, Manhattan:
The primary ball carrier for the Indians didn’t get much of a workload against Topeka High. The 49-0 blowout limited his touches. But Smith continues to put a touchdown on the board in every contest and leads the potent Indians ground attack.
Kaelin Rice, receiver, 2022, Hayden:
Rice has been one of the top receivers for Hayden for a couple of years, so in a blowout win over Baldwin, it’s a good time to feature the effective playmaker for the Wildcats. He caught the only two completions of the game for Hayden racking up 49 yards and a 28-yard score. That’s all the Wildcats needed to blast Baldwin 36-0.
