Max Schiltz – Homestead – MLB – 6’0″ 195 lbs
Schiltz was consistent on Friday and making plays all over the field. He was reading his queues and splitting blocks to blow up screenplays early on. He blew up a screen in the 2nd quarter which could have easily led to a touchdown, but he was able to make the play and prevent the score. He also had a key sack later in the game which led to a punt where Homestead got the ball back and scored to take the lead. Homestead may have fallen short, but it wasn’t because of Schiltz’s efforts.
Ebon Person Ebon Person 6'3" | 195 lbs | LB Homestead | 2022 State IN – Homestead – MLB – 6’3″ 200 lbs
Person is a great athlete and has a large frame as well. He stands out pretty clearly on the field and you couldn’t miss him Friday. He was able to get pressure, push the middle, and hit the player with the ball on almost every down. He got around the edge, lit up the Carson Cook, and caused a sack-fumble where Homestead got the ball on Bishop Luers’s 35-yard line. The points came early and often, but the defenses were making plays too.
Austin Keezer – Homestead – CB – 5’10″ 165 lbs
Keezer was making plays on offense and defense Friday. But, you can’t forget about Special Teams. Antwian Lake took a kickoff, busted through the hole, and looked to be long gone for a TD. Keezer ran him down in a similar fashion that DK Metcalf ran down Budda Baker last year. Keezer prevented that return for a TD. It was all him and it was all effort. He didn’t give up on the play and Bishop Luers ended up punting.
Jackon Mccullough – Bishop Luers – CB – 5’9″ 160 lbs
Mccullough was lined up on Anderson most of the game. He did have a tough assignment, but he didn’t completely fold. He was in Anderson’s face all night and broke up his share of passes. Mccullough’s best play was a goal-line stand to prevent Homestead from scoring. He shot through the defensive line and blew up an inside zone to prevent Homestead from scoring a TD to take the lead in the 3rd quarter.
Tru Wallace – Bishop Luers – S – 5’10″ 175 lbs
Wallace was decent on Friday. He isn’t the star on defense so sometimes he gets overlooked, but he was making plays of Friday. His biggest play of the night came on 4th-down where Homestead was going for it with hopes to score right before the half. Wallace dove and laid out for the ball and knocked it to the ground to make the stop. Bishop Luers went wild because the momentum was in Homestead’s favor at that moment.
