Both teams were looking for their first region win, and this game would not be decided until the final seconds. Albertville was able to come out on top with a 34-27 win over the Tigers. The Aggies had the best player on the field that night with their star WR Givenchy Dorival, but there were three more guys that I feel could be a great asset for college programs:
WR Givenchy Dorival, Albertville High School – c/o 2022
6’0″ 157lbs
Going into the game I had never heard of Givenchy Dorival, but he immediately made me take notice of his play on the field. Apparently, Dorival is an excellent basketball player, but his play on the gridiron should be turning heads. He has great length and he is a smooth route runner. Dorival catches the ball with soft hands, and he is elusive after the catch. He is the kick and punt returner for the Aggies, so that gives you an idea of what he can do with the ball in his hands. He had 3 TD receptions in the first half, and he finished his night with 7 receptions for 110 yards on top of the TDs. There is a lot to like about his game, and I wouldn’t be surprised for some interest from D1 FCS or DII schools to come his way!
RB Mark Howard Mark Howard 5'10" | 205 lbs | RB Grissom | 2022 State AL , Grissom High School – c/o 2022
5’11″ 208lbs
If you need a running back that can pound the rock, punish the defense, and pick up short yards between the tackles, then Mark Howard Mark Howard 5'10" | 205 lbs | RB Grissom | 2022 State AL is the guy. I love how hard Howard runs the football. To use a typical football description, he runs with bad intentions. For a big bruising back, he does a great job catching ball out of the backfield as he had a TD catch in the game. In an age of football where the offense tries to spread the defense out in space, it’s refreshing to watch a running back close the space and run guys over!
WR RJ Johnson, Grissom High School – c/o 2023
6’3″ 190lbs
RJ Johnson is ranked as one of the top 2023 basketball recruits, but the mismatch he provides on the football field is incredible. He is a big WR prospect, and he is bigger than most of the DBs that match up against him. He made an impressive TD catch in the game, and he has deceptive speed and quickness. I don’t believe he would continue to play on the outside in college, but I think he could be an incredible receiving TE at the next level. He is a prospect that could potentially play two sports at the right school.
WR Tariq Thaxton, Grissom High School – c/o 2023
5’9″ 160lbs
Tariq was one of the more explosive players on the field. He played in multiple receiver positions, and he even lined up at RB for the Tigers. Speed and elusiveness were things that really stood out to me. He was an extremely tough guy for defenders to get their hands on and tackle. I believe he could play in the slot or be a 3rd down back in college. He could be an offensive weapon that could line up positions for a lot of programs.
