The Marshall Buffalos easily trampled the Northside Panthers with a score of 72-0. The Marshall Buffalos has been having an amazing start to their football season this year. Every game they played they averaged 50 points per game. The Marshall Buffalos has been a great football team for the last couple of years. They have always had a strong lineup and a lot of weapons on both side. I’ll be discussing Marshall Buffalos defensive standouts.
#17 Jordan Sample FS, SS So 6’1 185 lbs
#17 Jordan Sample was quick, fast and a hard hitter. Jordan was a safety and a free safety and he focused primarily on blitzing. Jordan was able to stop a lot of passes and if a receiver did catch the ball Jordan made sure he wasn’t getting far. Jordan being in his sophomore season still has years to improve into a better safety and free safety.
The Defensive linemen
The Marshall Buffalos had an unstoppable defensive line. Every single one of them was overwhelming The Northside Panthers. #44 Logan Granville (DE Jr 6’3) and #45 Dejuan West (DE Jr 6’5) were both exceptionally big, strong, and quick defensive ends. They both easily got into the backfield and each of them got a sack. The defensive tackles #90 Korrel Harris (DT Sr 5’9) and #97 Kyle Boutte (DT Sr 6’0) were also big and strong. With those two hitting the middle the Northside Panthers couldn’t run the ball at all. I’m looking forward to seeing more of The Marshall Buffalos defensive linemen.
#8 Mike Patterson CB, FS, SS Jr 5’11 170 lbs
Mike Patterson was a standout defensive cornerback. Mike was able to stop The Northside Panthers pass plays. Their wide receivers couldn’t get through Mike. Mike was also incredibly fast and quick. Mike was able to block an incoming punt and then recovered it for a touchdown. I’m expecting a lot from Mike in his junior and senior year.
#26 Ryan Simpson OLB So 5’8 175 lbs
#26 Ryan Simpson is an outside line backer with a lot of heart. Ryan wasn’t the biggest player on the field, but when he was able to execute plays that made him enormous. Ryan assisted the defensive lineman in stopping a lot of run plays. Ryan was even able to make a few tackles himself. Ryan biggest accomplishment during the game was him causing a fumble in The Northside Panthers end zone and recovering that fumble for a touchdown. Ryan also being in his sophomore year still has the potential to become an even better outside linebacker for The Marshall Buffalos defense.
Just from watching The Marshall Buffalos I could tell that they have a great team and players. I would love another chance to watch The Marshall Buffalos again when they play a more competitive football team. I expect a lot of progress and results from The Marshall Buffalos this football season.
