Here’s a list of players that we feel deserve special recognition this week. This week’s lineup features one QB, a couple of two-way performers and two defensive stalwarts.
Cauthen Best Cauthen Best 6'1" | 200 lbs | QB Camden | 2022 State SC , Camden
The Bulldogs quarterback accounted for three total touchdowns in a 50-0 win over Lugoff-Elgin. Best finished 1-of-20 for 327 yards passing with two touchdowns and added 46 yards rushing and another score.
Evan Javis Evan Javis 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Spring Valley | 2023 State SC , Spring Valley
Jarvis is making his mark early in the season and should be getting looks as a future linebacker on the next level. He recorded 14 tackles, three tackles for loss, caused a fumble and had an interception in the Vikings 33-10 win over River Bluff. He also added 135 yards rushing and two touchdowns on just four carries.
Myles Cotten Myles Cotten 5'10" | 200 lbs | LB Blythewood | 2022 State SC , Blythewood
The senior running back/linebacker did a little bit of everything in a 22-7 win over Goose Creek. He had 10 tackles to lead the defense while adding 74 yards with one touchdown and 20 yards receiving in helping the Bengals improve to 2-0.
Tory Kelly, Gray Collegiate
In a 33-22 victory over Oceanside Collegiate, the War Eagles linebacker was all over the field. He recorded 10 tackles with two pass breakups to his credit. He also caused a fumble and recovered two fumbles. He turned one of those fumble recoveries into a 96-yard return for a touchdown.
Tyrell Green, A.C. Flora
The Falcons linebacker was credited with eight tackles, two sacks, two quarterback pressures and a fumble recovery in a 13-0 win over Sumter. A.C. Flora forced five turnovers total.
