We are going to shine a spotlight on guys that played well this weekend. With all of the game from the weekend in the books, lets see the guys that stood out.
Carston Poole Carston Poole 6'2" | 180 lbs | ATH Prescott | 2023 State AR -Quarterback-Prescott-2023
The Prescott quarterback got off to an excellent start for the 2021 season. Poole passed for 245 yards and four touchdowns off of 12/17 passing. He was factored in heavily in the victory over Newport.
Chris Gannaway Chris Gannaway 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Bryant | 2023 State AR -Running Back-Bryant-2023
Gannaway has speed to burn, and he can get into the second level of defenders in the blink of an eye. Gannaway was extremely impressive against Benton to start the season. Churning out 230 all-purpose yards and tacking on three touchdowns in the 42-3 win over Benton in the Salt Bowl.
Jaylen Hopson Jaylen Hopson 5'7" | 160 lbs | RB Prescott | 2022 State AR -Running Back-Prescott-2022
The Curley Wolves were clicking on all cylinders against Newport this week. Jaylen Hopson Jaylen Hopson 5'7" | 160 lbs | RB Prescott | 2022 State AR racked up 400 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns against the Greyhounds. Prescott has plenty of guys that can hurt you from anywhere on the field.
Cameron Vanzant Cameron Vanzant 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Farmington | 2024 State AR -Quarterback-Farmington-2024
The Farmington Cardinals offense got off to a hot start to being the season on Friday night. Cameron Vanzant Cameron Vanzant 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Farmington | 2024 State AR was 22/28 for 240 yards and four touchdowns. However, Vanzant was not finished there, he tacked on 25 yards on four carries on the ground.
Jayvean Dyer-Jones Jayvean Dyer-Jones 5'9" | 200 lbs | RB Little Rock Christian | 2022 State AR -Running Back-Little Rock Christian-2022
Dyer-Jones got off to a terrific start for the 2022 season and in the process really opened up some eyes. Dyer-Jones rushed 187 yards against Little Rock Central and proceeded to punch the ball in the end zone four times. Dyer-Jones is a player to keep an eye on, he has the potential to build on this performance.
Zaire Green Zaire Green 6'0" | 180 lbs | RB White Hall | 2022 State AR -Running Back-White Hall-2022
Zaire Green Zaire Green 6'0" | 180 lbs | RB White Hall | 2022 State AR made the most of the carries he received on Friday night. Green carried the ball nine times but rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns. He has the potential to have a strong season and Friday night was an impressive start for the White Hall running back.
Charlie Barker Charlie Barker 6'1" | 175 lbs | WR Pulaski Academy | 2022 State AR -Wide Receiver-Pulaski Academy-2022
Barker burst on to the scene on Friday night against Joe T. Robinson. The Pulaski Academy Bruin was able to find the end zone three times in the victory over Robinson. Clearly, the Pulaski Academy Bruins are still a loaded football team this season. Expect more performances like this over the course of the season.
Bryce Perkins Bryce Perkins 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Van Buren | 2024 State AR -Quarterback-Van Buren-2024
The Van Buren quarterback continues to build off of the momentum from the summer. Perkins passed for 174 yards and two touchdowns in a win over the Springdale Bulldogs. Perkins tacked on a touchdown on the ground from 20 yards out. Perkins is off to a great start for the Pointers.
Josh Shepherd Josh Shepherd 5'11" | 170 lbs | RB Rogers | 2022 State AR -Running-Rogers-2022
The Rogers Mounties running back absolutely exploded on to the Friday night scene on Friday. Shepherd rushed 402 yards off of 15 carries and ran for six touchdowns. With those kind of totals Shepherd is making scouts and observers wonder what is next for the Mounties running back.
