Giles transferred to Golden Valley from Quartz Hill and had a really nice spring season for the Grizzlies. He is a good combination of speed and power. Some opponents chose to cover him with a linebacker in man coverage and Golden Valley’s quarterback Jaxson Miner recognizes it and throws the swing pass to Giles who breaks away for a 20 yard reception. He can run in between the tackles as well and is happy to take six hard yards instead of trying to make a big play and losing yardage. He had a big game in the Grizzlies’ win over crosstown rival West Ranch and is poised for a nice fall season.
Golden Valley QB Jaxson Miner was 15 of 22 passing for 261 yards and two TDs in the Grizzlies’ 31-15 win over West Ranch Friday night. Running back Jared Giles had 24 carries for 174 yards on the ground. @GoldenValleyFB

5. Tahj Owens Tahj Owens 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB Loyola | 2022 State CA , Loyola, 2022
Owens recently got an offer from San Diego State which is interesting because when I watch his film he reminds me of former great San Diego State running back Donnel Pumphrey. He is really hard to game plan for because he often makes great cutbacks and can make an eight yard run out of nothing. When he gets through the second level he has breakaway speed and has a really good stiff arm for his size. He’s a good safety as well but I like him better as a running back. Owens has offers from Colorado State, Columbia, Dartmouth, Kansas, Nevada, San Diego State and San Jose State.

4. Floyd Chalk Floyd Chalk 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Bishop Alemany | 2022 State CA , Alemany, 2022
Alemany may be the best team in LA and they have two running backs on this list. Chalk does it all for Alemany. He can run in between the tackles, run sweeps and make plays in the passing game. He changes direction very quickly and is hard for defenders to get ahold of. He has offers from Penn State, San Diego State and Boston College but I feel he is under recruited. That may change after a great senior year for the best team in the county.

3. Jaylen Thompson Jaylen Thompson 5'10" | 200 lbs | RB Bishop Alemany | 2022 State CA , Alemany, 2022
It will be very interesting to see how Alemany coach Casey Clausen uses Thompson and Chalk. It’s a good problem to have to decide between which national recruit running back to give the ball to. Thompson transferred to Alemany from St. Bernard where he only played two games this spring. He impressed scouts at the UC Report Camp at Mission Viejo. He has elite speed, is very difficult to cover in the passing game and is one of the more complete backs in the state. He has offers from 17 schools including Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Penn State, Texas and USC.

2. Max Garrison Max Garrison 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB St. Francis | 2022 State CA , St. Francis, 2022
Garrison rushed for 784 yards and 10 touchdowns in six games during the spring season. He is always a big play threat when he is on the field and the plays he makes after the catch or after contact are incredible to watch. Garrison is one of those players who keeps defensive coordinators awake at night. You’re always aware of where he is on the field and he makes big plays out of broken plays constantly. He has offers from 10 schools including Arizona State, Colorado State, Texas and Washington State.

1. Tomarion Harden Tomarion Harden 6'2" | 225 lbs | RB Inglewood | 2022 State CA , Inglewood, 2022
This NFL player gets a lot of comps but Harden reminds me of Le’Veon Bell in his early Pittsburgh days. He’s big at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, runs hard and has long strides. He makes big plays on a variety of runs and can break tackles. He can make plays in the passing game and had offers from lots of major schools before verbally committing to UCLA in June. Inglewood is a very fun team to watch and Harden is a must-watch player this fall.
Tomarion Harden 6‘1“ 230 Inglewood HS is the top power back in Southern California. Averaged over 8 ypc in 2021. Great balance, size, vision and strength. 3.4 GPA. Shows all the tools. Can get you the tough inside yards.@TomarionHarden pic.twitter.com/EfhmuukeRY
