Texas Week One Top Offensive Performers

There were some outstanding week one performances around the Lonestar state, and we analyzed some of the best right here! <hr /> <em><strong>QB: [player_tooltip player_id="60721" first="Josh" last="Hoover"], Rockwall-Heath, Sr</strong></em> A dazzling display of timing and accuracy by Hoover led Rockwall-Heath to a 56-49 win over Timber-Creek. Hoover, an Indiana commit, finished 19/24 through the air with 406 yards passing and 5 touchdowns. He showed off a cannon of an arm, fantastic touch on his throws of 20 yards plus, and plenty of escapability when the pocket collapsed. <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/11295501/612909bc3452e20d60ddfc87" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe>   <em><strong>QB: Brodie Daniel, A&M Consolidated, Sr</strong></em> The Tulane baseball commit finished his 2021 debut with 311 yards passing and 7 touchdowns through the air. He was fantastic throwing on the move, constantly squaring his shoulders towards his targets, and delivered strikes right on the numbers. Daniel did a phenomenal job of looking off single-high safeties all night and dropped deep ball after deep ball beyond them. The Tigers went on to win their opener 68-7.   <em><strong>QB: Kaden Anderson, Southlake Carroll, Jr</strong></em> Stepping in to replace [player_tooltip player_id="60687" first="Quinn" last="Ewers"] is one tall task, but I’d say Anderson proved he’s ready to be the Dragon’s next great signal-caller. In a nationally televised game on ESPN, Anderson threw for 261 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 45-21 win over Highland Park. He showed exceptional poise inside the pocket and a swift release. He was fantastic on RPO’s and the moment never seemed too big for him.   <em><strong>RB: Tray'vian McCoy-Gay, Round-Rock, Sr</strong></em> McCoy-Gay was electric in Round Rock’s week one win over Midway, accounting for 245 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns on just 13 carries. His pure acceleration was evident once he got to the edge of the defense. Trayvian was strong through contact, breaking multiple arm tackles during the course of Friday’s matchup. His wiggle in the open field gave Midway defenders serious issues too. <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/11533387/612b8e3b4deba104700dad9a" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe>   <em><strong>RB: Landen Chambers, Fossil Ridge, Jr</strong></em> Not a bad day at the office, totaling 208 yards rushing and four touchdowns on the ground in a 42-41 win over Azle. Check the film; this kid was an absolute nightmare to tackle last Friday night, barreling through tackle attempts and stiff-arming defenders out of his way. Chambers showed why he is such a physical back that relishes contact. He’s bound for a monster junior season this fall. <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/13355310/6128ee22f31d100774d30716" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe>   <em><strong>WR: Cameron Price, St. Thomas, Sr</strong></em> St. Thomas started off week one with a big 35-28 win over Needville, and Mr. Price played a massive role, putting together a dominant 13 catch performance that totaled 196 yards and one touchdown. Cameron was filthy in the open field, making defenders look silly in 1 on 1 tackle situations. This young man caught everything in sight and showed no hesitation going up and getting the football in traffic. Price is a slick slot receiver that is a major threat in the intermediate passing game. <iframe src="//www.hudl.com/embed/video/3/11721711/6129bb9ed21c6708e0b58347" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe> <hr /> <span style="font-size: 24pt;"><strong>Other Top Performances From Week One</strong></span> <strong>RB: Dylan Nelson, Coppell, Sr</strong> 365 all-purpose yards in a 42-28 win over Sachse. <strong>QB: EJ Ezar, Rudder, Sr</strong> 435 total yards and 4 touchdowns in a 50-23 win over Bastrop. <strong>WR: Tylan Crochett, North Forney, Jr</strong> 190 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns in a 39-29 win over Wilson.
