The Bears showed dominance on both sides of the ball and have a few stand out players returning this upcoming season. The players listed will play a major role in the team’s success but I expect many others to step up when their number is called. The Bridgeland Bears will look to have an even better season that last, with hopes of winning it all with the great talent their roster has.
QB Conner Weigman Conner Weigman 6'1" | 205 lbs | QB Bridgeland | 2022 State TX – 6’2″ 210 (2022)
5 Star recruit and Aggie commit Weigman will be looked at to lead the charge for the Bridgeland team. He returns for his senior season, ready to leave his mark after an incredible junior season. Weigman threw for over 3,800 yards with 42 touchdowns, while also running for over 500 yards and 9 touchdowns to go along with that. He shows great athleticism and a strong arm with a quick release. Considered one of the states’ best, expect Weigman to put on a show this season.
RB Mason Culton – 5’9″ – 200 (2022)
Culton ran for 784 yards with 9 touchdowns last season, showing off his speed and power. Culton displayed great burst and the ability to outrun defenders on his way to a touchdown. Culton ran around and through defenses, so expect him to do it again this season at an even higher degree. Culton is an extremely talented back who makes things happen.
WR Andrew Maleski – 5’11″ – 180 (2022)
Maleski proved to be a valuable target in the slot last season, managing to put up 525 yards on 40 receptions with 7 touchdowns. Maleski showed skill on his routes and reliable hands. It will be his time to step up but he is built for the challenge.
WR Jonathan Nelson – 5’10″ – 170 (2023)
Nelson is another young talent who will be looked upon to take on a bigger role this season. Nelson worked out of the slot most of last season and was another sure handed receiver. He is quick out of breaks and can find the holes in zones when needed. Last season Nelson caught 10 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown, and played a role in the return game.
DB Terrance Cullivan – 6’0″ – 185 (2022)
Cullivan will be a key returner for the Bears this season after last season was cut short due to injury. Cullivan was excellent during his time on the field, showing great reaction and speed on the ball. He was all over the field and made the plays when needed. Cullivan will be one of the leaders of the Bear defense and it will be a great sight seeing him back on the field.
OLB Graham Gillespie – 6’1″ – 190 (2022)
Gillespie is a versatile playmaker for the Bridgeland defense. He lines up in the secondary as well as at the outside linebacker position rushing off the edge. Gillespie shows good ball skills and hits with a purpose. He will be looked at to lead as well for his senior year and ball out just as he did last season.
DL Nathan Earle – 6’1″ – 270 (2022)
Earle is back to man down the interior line for the Bears. Earle showed great strength and motor last season, fighting doubles on the regular. Earle was quick on his moves and showed flashes of dominance. It will be nice to see what he has worked on this offseason and how much he has developed heading into the season.
DL Charles McKnight – 6’0″ – 250 (2022)
McKnight played very well when he was on the field. He showed great hands and strength, and was an excellent block shedder. McKnight clogged the running lanes when needed and also provided great pressure on opposing quarterbacks. He will be a player to keep an eye on, with the potential to leave his mark on games when he’s on.
Other Notable Returners:
DB Josh Ryan – 5’9″ – 170 (2022)
OL Chance Scheiffele – 6’3″ – 220 (2022)
