Today, we break down the other four playmakers that are primed for big things for the Giants this year. All four are amongst the best in the state at their respective positions. These four prospects are going to be key for Ben Davis this season. The four student-athletes that we will discuss today, are ready to face the challenge of competing in one of the state’s most talent-rich areas.
Dillon Moore Dillon Moore 6'2" | 205 lbs | ATH Ben Davis | 2022 State IN , 6’2, 205 pounds, Athlete, Senior
Dillon Moore Dillon Moore 6'2" | 205 lbs | ATH Ben Davis | 2022 State IN will begin the season as the four-rated athlete in the Class of 2022. Overall, Moore currently stands as Indiana’s 30th-ranked overall player in the senior class. Moore has received plenty of interest, and he has committed to Western Michigan. The Broncos will be getting an elite two-way player, capable of changing the game on any play. Moore plays at a high-level at both wide receiver and cornerback. On the offensive side of the ball, he is a great route-runner, who is particularly useful in the red zone. He does well to get open, even when there is not as much room to work with. Moore possesses the crucial ability to make the catch in tight coverage, sometimes having to fight through contact to haul in the pass. After the catch, Moore is difficult to tackle, often requiring more than one defender to stop him on his path to six points. Defensively, Moore is a ball-hawk at corner. He can make a play on the ball, often coming up with the interception. But this starts with his ability to read the eyes of the quarterback. Dillon Moore Dillon Moore 6'2" | 205 lbs | ATH Ben Davis | 2022 State IN is someone who could contribute early in his collegiate career in Kalamazoo.
J’uan Swanson J’uan Swanson 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Ben Davis | 2022 State IN , 6’1, 185 pounds, Quarterback, Senior
J’uan Swanson J’uan Swanson 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Ben Davis | 2022 State IN begins the season at number 18 in the state’s Class of 2022 quarterback rankings. However, I could certainly see him moving up the list very soon. Swanson is a pass rusher’s worst nightmare, because he can get the ball out quickly and accurately, allowing them little to no opportunity to get pressure on him. Swanson is very mobile. He can use his legs effectively on designed runs as well as scramble situations. Swanson is a very smart quarterback. He does not get careless with the football, and force throws into coverage. J’uan Swanson J’uan Swanson 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Ben Davis | 2022 State IN is a quarterback that keeps the offense on schedule, and he can quickly get the opposing defense tired.
Cade Thompson Cade Thompson 6'1" | 160 lbs | WR Ben Davis | 2023 State IN , 6’1, 160 pounds, Wide Receiver, Junior
Cade Thompson Cade Thompson 6'1" | 160 lbs | WR Ben Davis | 2023 State IN is currently ranked as the fourth-best wide receiver in the junior class. Overall, he currently stands as the 14th-ranked player in the Class of 2023. Thompson is great off the ball, regularly winning at the line-of-scrimmage. Thompson is a sure-handed receiver, who is excellent in the red zone. He can be dangerous after the catch, often turning a short completion, into a big play. Thompson adjusts well to the throw. Even if the ball is not where he expected it to be, he can fight his back to it, and still come up with the clutch reception.
David Lara-Gonzalez David Lara-Gonzalez 6'3" | 295 lbs | ATH Ben Davis | 2022 State IN , 6’3, 295 pounds, Offensive Lineman/Defensive Lineman, Senior
David Lara-Gonzalez David Lara-Gonzalez 6'3" | 295 lbs | ATH Ben Davis | 2022 State IN dominates on both sides of the line for the Giants. Defensively, he is a powerful player, that can get into the backfield consistently. Offensively, Lara-Gonzalez sets the tone for his teammates at guard. Right when the ball is snapped, he brings a level of aggresion and tenacity that is critical for an offensive lineman. He gets right off the ball and attacks. Lara-Gonzalez plays with a good low base, allowing him to get good leverage and to generate that power. Lara-Gonzalez does a great job of getting up to the second level on run plays, occupying a linebacker. One of the most crucial aspects of Lara-Gonzalez’s game is his versatility, as he is able to play both right and left guard at a high level.
