Southeastern Conference’s Top Returning Defensive Backs For 2021

Defensive backs are becoming so important to the success of high school football teams. With all the spread offenses, teams need players that are athletic enough to cover and fly up and make open-field tackles. These are a few very talented defensive backs from the Southeastern Conference that will play big roles in their respective team’s success. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="30353" first="Torrence" last="Greene"]</strong> (2023) | 5-11 | Ann Arbor Huron | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/video/3/13357386/5fc156aaf31c53105cc91dbb">Hudl</a> [player_tooltip player_id="30353" first="Torrence" last="Greene"] does a great job blanketing wide receivers when he is covering them man to man. Greene has good instincts and tends to put himself in the right position to create interceptions. Greene also has the speed and elusiveness to create long interception returns for touchdowns. <strong>Ben Strzyzewski </strong>(2022) | 5-10 | Chelsea | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2EePmX">Hudl</a> Ben Strzyzewski plays cornerback the right way. He is so fundamentally sound with his technique. Strzyzewski is outstanding at turning his head around and making plays on the football. He can cover well in man and zone coverage. Panza quickly locates the defender, gets in front of him, and then goes after the football. He takes great angles when coming up to make tackles. Expect more interceptions and sure tackles for [player_tooltip player_id="80528" first="Tristin" last="Panza"] in 2021. <strong>Gerzon Herter </strong>(2023) | 5-6 | Dexter | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2Eanuw">Hudl</a> Herter does a good job of keeping the wide receiver from beating him deep while lined up at the corner. He never gives up on the play and will always fight to strip the ball out of the hands of the receiver. If Herter allows a short completion he will fly up and get the receiver on the ground quickly. <strong>Zyers Ruff </strong>(2023) | 6-0 | Ann Arbor Skyline | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2Eayqe">Hudl</a> Zyers Ruff is a physical defender who is terrific in run support. Ruff is a very versatile player on defense. He can play cornerback, safety, and outside linebacker. Ruff has great footwork when backpedaling into coverage.
