They felt that it was time for a fresh start and they are doing just that. We’re looking at the Archers and what to expect in 2021.
The Archers are introducing new Head Coach Guy Lee in 2021. He was hired on May 11th and is expected to be the guy to turn the program around. The Archers, who used to be one of the biggest threats in NE Indiana haven’t had a winning season since 2009 where they went 8-2. It’s been tough since then and they want a change. They’ve made a big change and hope that it works out.
Last year, the offense really struggled. The Archers only averaged 12 PPG last season and always seemed to sputter. Things didn’t go well in any game it felt like. They would blink and be down by 15. They had some of the worst defense in the state, too. They were giving up over 35 PPG last year and it was rough.
The Archers are led on offense and defense by Marcus White-Allen. Marcus plays both RB and MLB for the Archers. He’s always on the field and making plays for them. He’s a good athlete and has a decent frame too. He’s 6’1″ and weighs 210 lbs. He has quick feet but a weaker upper body. He’s currently a 2-star recruit without any offers yet. With a big senior year, he could receive offers and play college ball somewhere.
Defensively, the Archers are led by Jaylen Lattimore Jaylen Lattimore 6'3" | 220 lbs | LB South Side | 2022 State IN . Lattimore is a true EDGE rusher and has such a nice frame. He’s 6’3″ and 220 lbs. He’s great at getting the edge and pressing when needed. He’s able to bend around the edge and seal the deal. He’s a 2-star recruit with offers from Toledo, Iowa, and Indiana. Where he goes is still wide open and with a nice year he could get more offers to choose from.
South Side gets to start their new era on August 20th on the road at 7 PM against Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran. It’ll be a great opportunity for the Archers to find out where they are. The new coaching staff will get its feet wet and their 2 stars will be ready to roll. For the first time in a long time, there is a ton of optimism for the Archers and you can really see why.
