There are scheduled scrimmages over the next two weeks, and there’s one this week that will feature two of the best teams in the state.
The always powerful Walton Raiders will head to Forsyth County to take on the Lambert Longhorns. A matchup between two impressive 7A programs, there’s going to be plenty of D1 talent on both sides of the field. Here are a few players to know about for the upcoming scrimmage.
Kojo Antwi Kojo Antwi 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Lambert | 2022 State GA – WR – Lambert
Ranked as the No.1 receiver in the state, you won’t find many more explosive than Antwi. The 6-foot-0 190-pounder is an elite route runner with great hands. He can line up on the outside and beat defenders deep, and he can line up in the slot and run some routes in short-yardage situations as well. Antwi’s quick feet allow him to change directions well and create separation with ease. He’s a fluid runner, and his ability to stop on a dime and change directions makes it tough for any defensive back to stay with him. He’s an excellent down-field threat and has an extra gear that helps him get behind his defenders. The four-star consistently makes defenders miss and is so tough to tackle in the open field. He can zig-zag past defenders and always has an eye on the end-zone. The Ohio State commit is a true game-changing receiver who can take over a game due to his speed, athleticism, and overall explosiveness.
Grayson Mains Grayson Mains 6'5" | 265 lbs | OL Lambert | 2022 State GA – OL – Lambert
One of the top 2022 OL prospects in the region, Mains had an excellent junior season and is committed to play at the University of South Carolina. The massive 6-foot-5 285-pounder bends exceptionally well for his size and can dominate opposing defenders with his size and length. He can overpower smaller edge defenders in pass protection and does a great job of opening holes in the run game. He’s still developing, as is every high school offensive lineman, but he had D1 talent and should be able to hand just about every edge defender in the region.
Marcus Allen Marcus Allen 6'2" | 165 lbs | DB Walton | 2022 State GA – DB – Walton
The long, athletic defensive back has good size at 6-foot-2 165-pounds and knows how to separate the ball from the receiver. His length and quick footwork allow him to stay in control and play against bigger receivers, and he more than held his own against some pass-happy offenses during the 2020 season. He’s also shown that he can bring a physical presence and is a sure tackler for a cornerback. Allen made 53 tackles last year, intercepted two passes, and broke up 7 more on his way to a very successful junior season. He was outstanding against a strong Brookwood offense last year and proved that he was one of the more physical cover corners in the state. Allen committed to North Carolina over Georgia Tech, Auburn, Boston College, among others.
Zak Rozsman – QB – Walton
The rising-senior from Walton is a good-looking prospect committed to App State who took another step forward as a junior. The multi-year starter showed big play ability last fall as a junior where he passed for 1,741 yards and 12 TDs. The overall statistics won’t blow you away, but he showed on Friday nights that he can make plays in clutch moments. He also made plenty of plays on the ground this season, rushing for 304 yards and 7 touchdowns. The Radiers didn’t have the season that they expected, but they also played one of the toughest schedule’s in the state. Rozsman played against some of the state’s best defenses all year and proved that he has Power 5 potential.
