With some all-state talent, big quarterback battles, comeback stories, with coaches and athletes trying to make a name for themselves, I’m very excited to be covering the OK-Blue. West Michigan Football is just better with fans in the stands and I’m excited to be able to share that experience with all of you. Here’s some offensive talent to watch this fall.
Athletes you must see in-person
Noah Arsulowicz, QB West Catholic – 1062 Passing yards and 16 touchdowns in 8 games in 2020. Do I have to say anything else? Arsulowicz seems to ball out day in day out. With 13 returning West Catholic starters, Noah Arsulowicz is going to play a big part in West Catholic being good or great.
Gavin Reames Gavin Reames 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB Fruitport | 2022 MI , QB Fruitport – I don’t know why Reames isn’t getting much coverage. Being all-state in his junior year, Reames is a great deep-threat quarterback who can also make plays with his feet. Fruitport also has many starters returning for 2021, and I’m incredibly excited to see what this All-State quarterback can accomplish.
Julius Dykhuis, WR Holland Christian – Separation is the name of Dykhuis’s game. He runs the route tree exceptionally well. Able to get open with fakes, double moves, great hips, not to mention excellent release. Holland Christian’s 2021 motto is to be “uncommon”, and I truly think Dykhuis has come great uncommon talent with a high ceiling.
Ben Nelson Ben Nelson 6'7" | 250 lbs | TE Holland Christian | 2022 MI , TE Holland Christian – At 6’7 240, Nelson is an absolute monster on the field. Playing both sides of the ball, he’s a great defensive lineman as well as an offensive blocker. What I’m most excited to see is how Holland Christian decides to use him in their offense. With Nelson’s size, he’s an absolute dream Tight End. If Holland Christian utilizes him well on offense he can be an absolute game-changer.
Kyle Kloska Kyle Kloska 6'2" | 295 lbs | OL Grand Rapids West Catholic | 2022 MI , OT West Catholic – On the 2020 Grand Rapids offensive dream team as a Junior, Klosta has put in even more time in the weight room + fundamentally to make him even more dominant. He protects his quarterback’s blind side incredibly well with plenty of pancakes to go around. In general, Kloska is a beast and a huge headache for defensive coordinators.
Hayden Harper, OL Fruitport – Great feet and strength are what separates Harper from other offensive linemen. Harper is an excellent run and pass blocker on Fruitports already incredible offensive line, and I see he’s been putting in the work during the offseason. An all-league shoo-in, Harper is looking to make his presence felt during his senior season.
