During their scrimmage vs Gilman the Saints played better as the reps piled up. They played a lot of guys which made some veteran players snaps scarce, but allowed the newcomers and rising 23’s and 24’s to show what they could do. Weather cancellations hindered the Saints practice week so it was good to be able to play full contact against an opponent. For the short amount of practices, the team played with good energy and effort.
Key Players:
Sone Metuge Sone Metuge 6'0" | 280 lbs | OL Concordia Prep | 2022 MD Jr – 2022 DL 6’1 280lbs
Interests from Maine and New Hampshire. Extremely explosive, solid 280 pound athlete. According to MIAA coaches, he’s known as one of the best defensive linemen in the league. Great personality and work ethic, he is a potential captain for this season.
Everett Dingle Jr – 2022 DB/WR 5’11 175lbs
4.55 40 yard dash, 34.2 inch vertical. Team leader, pre-snap on defense you hear his voice first ,echoing calls all over the field, getting his teammates aligned. Great strong safety fit for this defense that is a solid tackler and athletic enough to cover slot receivers.
Jordan Brooks Jordan Brooks 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Concordia Prep | 2024 MD – QB
As a transfer from national power house St. Francis, a lot of hype is around Jordan. He will have to grow and learn to produce under pressure. When he has a clean pocket he showed good ball placement. Excited to see him really let it rip, expectations are high for Brooks.
Josh Derry Josh Derry 5'11" | 175 lbs | WR Concordia Preparatory | 2023 State MD – WR/CB/PR/KR
Derry is the saints big play guy on offense. He can stretch the defense with his speed and is a technician in route running. One trait that is not shown in his sophomore film is his elusiveness. During the off-season I’ve had multiple opportunities to see him play in 7on7 tournaments, he always makes the first guy miss. I’ve witnessed his versatility lining up at outside receiver, slot, and even catching passes and jet sweeps out of the backfield. This summer he showcased his route running ability at camps such as Temple, Towson, and U.S. National Team camp. Clips of each are on his Twitter: Josh Derry Josh Derry 5'11" | 175 lbs | WR Concordia Preparatory | 2023 State MD ’s Twitter
