We are going to take a look at some of the key players that the Hornets are going to lean on this season. We will also examine a few games on the calendar that are going to be important for the Hornets.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Hornets have experience coming back at the quarterback position. Samuel Moore Samuel Moore 5'10" | 165 lbs | QB Harrisburg | 2022 State AR had a terrific 2020 season. Moore passed for over 1,500 yards and 18 touchdowns. Moore makes good decisions with the football. He knows when to escape the pocket, however, he does a good job of keeping his eyes down the field. Moore has the potential to have a big season this season.
The rushing attack for the Hornets has several quality options in the offensive backfield that will see some carries this season. Harrisburg has done a good job of mixing the run with the pass well over the years and this season should be no different. Will Cronin will see some carries this season. He does an excellent job of finding the rushing lanes and showing the patience to allow the blocks to develop. Jace Heeb will split time between the tail back and full back spots this season. The ground game has plenty of potential that could have a big season.
Harrisburg has wide receivers returning this season. River Carter runs consistent routes and was impressive last season racking up 600 yards off of 30 receptions. Justin Clem is a dangerous target in the red zone. Clem is excellent at the jump and fade routes where he can use his 6-3 frame to haul in passes. Trey Davis has good speed, and he can cause problems for the opposing secondary. Skylar Duncan and Grant Henry are wide receivers that provide good depth and will be counted on heavily in the rotation.
The offensive line has several key players returning to man some positions up front this season. Khalil Todd uses his mix of speed and quickness well at the guard spot. He should be a consistent part of the offensive line for the Hornets. Michael Moore has been extremely consistent at the right tackle spot, and he has the potential to have a strong season this season. Garrett Bellinger and Brayden Kimble will take the other guard and left tackle as we get closer to the 2021 season.
Meanwhile on the defensive side of the ball, Colby Summers Colby Summers 5'9" | 180 lbs | LB Harrisburg | 2023 State AR earned all-conference honors as a sophomore at the linebacker spot and the potential is there for him to improve even more this season. Caiden Greer is going to be a player to watch working along the defensive line. Greer is a defensive lineman that does a great of using speed to disrupt the offensive backfield.
2021 Prediction:
Harrisburg has the signal caller returning in the form of Moore. The Hornets have talented players at the running back and wide receiver positions. Harrisburg has the talent to secure a playoff spot, and everything clicks even going on a playoff run. The key games to circle on the calendar are the Hoxie and Osceola games. Both of those games have the potential to determine a playoff spot this season.
