I have been watching [player_tooltip player_id="152536" first="Alex" last="Mota"] since last year. He is one of Iowa’s more entertaining and electric players to watch! Alex, (along with other elite prospects like [player_tooltip player_id="24023" first="Kadyn" last="Proctor"], [player_tooltip player_id="105139" first="Andrew" last="DePaepe"], and [player_tooltip player_id="24030" first="Jamison" last="Patton"]), will be a star at the Division One level. In this article we’ll focus on Alex and predict how this star prospect will do in the approaching season.

Skill Set: [player_tooltip player_id="152536" first="Alex" last="Mota"] is the definition of a freak of nature and the most athletic person on the field at all times. This is not just because he plays 3A (now 4A) football. His breakaway speed is right up there with some of the best running backs in the state - and he plays quarterback. I really like his talent as a defensive back, as well. Alex shows elite ability to cover an insane amount of ground in his bid to get to ball carriers and disrupt plays. In the QB position, he has the arm and his size is an advantage. If he is going to play QB at the next level, however, Alex will need additional focus on his throwing ability. Improving his pre-snap game will put him in the elite QB prospect category. For now, I think he is best suited as a defensive back, but [player_tooltip player_id="152536" first="Alex" last="Mota"]’s athleticism will make him successful at every position.
Recruitment: Alex currently has offers to Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas State, Wisconsin, and Iowa State. This list represents elite teams and he would be successful at any of them. Nebraska likes athletic QBs who can run while also being a threat in the passing game - and that would be exactly what [player_tooltip player_id="152536" first="Alex" last="Mota"] already provides. Iowa and Wisconsin, I am almost certain, would both want him at defensive back or safety because of his pure athleticism and range. Iowa State may want him playing safety or even a receiver role. Kansas State could put him in the secondary or the receiving core, as well. Overall, I predict current team pick likelihoods to be: Iowa 35%, Wisconsin 35%, Iowa State 20%, and Nebraska 10%. I personally would like to see him go to either Wisconsin or Iowa because those coaching staffs are going to make him an absolute beast in the secondary.
Predicted QB Stat Line: 45/88 C/ATT, 550 Passing Yards, 9 Touchdowns, 6 Interceptions.
Predicted Rushing Stat Line: 105 Carries, 645 Rushing Yards, 6.1 Yards Per Carry, 13 Touchdowns.
Predicted Defensive Back Stat Line: 33 Tackles, 25 Solo Tackles, 1.0 Sack, 3 Tackles For Loss.
Standout Game: Week 2 Marion vs. Cedar Rapids Washington. [player_tooltip player_id="152536" first="Alex" last="Mota"] vs [player_tooltip player_id="105189" first="Watts" last="McBride"] will be really fun to watch. I think Alex makes some huge plays on both sides of the ball and is the standout performer in this game.
Final Points: [player_tooltip player_id="152536" first="Alex" last="Mota"] is going to be a solid prospect and become one of the faces of Iowa High School Football in the future. His pure athleticism makes him stand out, and power five schools have absolutely taken notice. Personally, I want to see him progress as a QB because that would be a blast to watch. As you can see from the stats, I think he is going to take a significant jump in production.
