Mr. Football: 5A Pre-Season Watch List

Today we continue our look at some of the top talent in the state of Mississippi with a look at class 5A. When the season ends we expect these names to be leaders around the state among the class. <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/ayden-williams/">[player_tooltip player_id="106165" first="Ayden" last="Williams"]</a> | WR | Ridgeland | Jr Williams, as a JR, has already shown potential to be one of the top WR recruits in the state in the last 5 years. The present athleticism combined with decent length allows the Jackson area wideout to line up at any WR position. Williams caught 58 balls for 765 yards and 6 TD’s as a Sophomore last year. Offers have begun to come from all across the country already and will prove why Williams is one of the top players in state for 2023. <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/kaden-irving/">[player_tooltip player_id="108931" first="Kaden" last="Irving"]</a> | QB | Gautier | JR Irving was able to get his feet wet as a varsity QB last season at Gautier and complete 64% of his passes for 2,399 yards, 15 TD’s to 5 INT’s in just seven games. Now with a full offseason as the presumed starter under his belt expect the JR to make a major step forward. Irving is a two-sport star, committed to the Ole Miss baseball program. <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/tabias-hinton/">[player_tooltip player_id="106310" first="Tabias" last="Hinton"]</a> | LB | Hattiesburg | JR Another JR making an appearance on this list is Hinton of Hattiesburg HS. Hinton projects as an EDGE/LB depending on his growth into the physical lengthy frame he possesses. Agility and speed make him a nightmare coming off the end which is proved by his 18.5 sacks as a Sophomore last year. Holds offers from Southern Miss, Mississippi State and Michigan. Expect his recruitment to begin to blow up over the course of this season. <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/khamauri-rogers/">[player_tooltip player_id="104526" first="Khamauri" last="Rogers"]</a> | WR/CB | Holmes County Central | SR Rogers is simply one of the best do-it-all ATH’s in the state. With production both at WR and CB expect loads of production from the University of Miami commitment. Long time heralded as one of the top 2022’s in the state, expect Rogers to fill up the stat sheet in all three phases of the game. <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/dj-burgess-2/">[player_tooltip player_id="104438" first="DJ" last="Burgess"]</a> | DL | Lafayette Co. | SR One of the most violent motors in the state resides in [player_tooltip player_id="104438" first="DJ" last="Burgess"] of Lafayette Co. 71 tackles, 22.5 TFL’s and 11.5 sacks made up a monster JR season for Burgess as it took double teams to even come close to slowing him down. Burgess will be a leader on the defense for Coach Michael Fair at Lafayette as they should possess one of the best defenses in the state. &nbsp;
