I decided to kick off the season right with one of the games of the week which was Shadow creek high school vs North Shore high school held at freedom field. In the 1st half it was a pretty close game with Shadow Creek only down by a touchdown. However, North Shore took the game final score 33-9. North Shore had a lot of talent on both sides. In this article I’ll be talking about the offensive standouts:
#34 Rashaad Johnson Rashaad Johnson 5'9" | 210 lbs | RB North Shore | 2023 State TX 5’10 RB Jr
North Shore had a pretty good offensive formation and it was a pretty simple one, but with a running back like Rashaad Johnson Rashaad Johnson 5'9" | 210 lbs | RB North Shore | 2023 State TX your going to get results. Just by simply handing off the ball to Rashaad he gave his team the needed yards and momentum. Rashaad was tall and fast shadow creek’s defense could barely touch him nor wrap him up. He was a very overwhelming force on offense. Rashaad averaged 103 yards with 11 carries and one touchdown. With Rashaad as running back I’m sure North Shore will have a productive season.
#12 Jhalyn M Bailey WR Sr
North Shore offense mainly centered on it’s strong run game with Rashaad Johnson Rashaad Johnson 5'9" | 210 lbs | RB North Shore | 2023 State TX . However, when North Shore did decide to pass the ball Jhalyn Bailey Jhalyn Bailey 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR North Shore | 2022 State TX was ready for it. Jhalyn had good foot work, was pretty fast, and he knew how to get open for passes. Jhalyn was able to score one touchdown. If North Shore decides to pass the ball more Jhalyn will have a productive final season of high school football.
#32 Xavier Owens Jr RB Sr
Xavier Owens is the second running back for North Shore. Xavier didn’t averaged the same amount of yards or play as much as Raashad, but he was still a good running back in his own right. Early in the 1st quarter Xavier ran the ball for 22 yard giving North Shore a great advantage for the beginning of the game. Xavier was a dependable running back and very experienced as expected from a running back in his senior year.
#21 Damon Ford RB Jr
Damon Ford had a great opening night for Friday Night Lights. Damon stood out to me he was very capable running back knowing exactly where to run the ball. Damon didn’t stand out as much as Rashaad or experienced as Xavier, but Damon definitely left his mark on the field especially with the touchdown he scored towards the end of the game. Looking forward to seeing more of Damon’s potential for his Junior and Senior season.
#61 Jonathan Banda C, G, T
The most unappreciated and least noticeable position in football are offensive linemen. However, they’re arguably the most essential and important part to play in offense. Unfortunately, the opposing team Shadow Creek major downfall was not having a solid offensive line. Jonathan Banda stood out the most among North Shore’s offensive line he started out as a center, but also played guard and tackle as well. No matter where Jonathan was on the line he knew how to carry his job and provided the protection the quarterback and running back needed. Jonathan was a great blocked he rarely got passed and didn’t allow any sacks.
