We highlighted some key performances from the likes of Iverson Hooks, Anthony Rogers, Braylon McReynolds, and Anthony Eager, who all put on an amazing show!
PIKE ROAD
Offensively, Pike Road is going to be one of the best in the state. In a game without star running back and national recruit Quinshon Judkins Quinshon Judkins 6'0" | 195 lbs | RB Pike Road | 2022 State AL , Pike Road didn’t seem to lose a step. With senior quarterback Iverson Hooks and freshman wide receiver Anthony Rogers putting up huge numbers, Pike Road is only going to be more of a force with Judkin’s return.
Iverson Hooks- QB
Everyone loves a good comeback story, and that’s exactly what Pike Road’s Iverson Hooks provided last Friday night. Hooks is no stranger to adversity, after suffering an ACL tear in a Week 6 matchup last fall, Hooks, unfortunately, had his season cut short. However, it is extremely apparent that he is fully healed and ready to go as the senior quarterback had one of the best single-game performances by any player in recent history. Hooks was able to produce 217 yards and 3 touchdowns through the air, with an additional 307 yards and 5 touchdowns on the ground, totaling up to a ridiculous 524 total yards and 8 touchdowns. With big play after big play, Hooks showed tremendous arm talent, speed, and confidence as he sliced up the McGill-Toolen defense.
Anthony Rogers- WR
It makes sense why Georgia quickly sent an offer to Anthony Rogers after Friday night, the 2025 receiver played absolutely incredible in his first career start. With his incredible speed, Rogers was able to culminate 368 all-purpose yards and 4 touchdowns, with one being a long kick return, and the other 3 being huge deep passes from Iverson Hooks. As a freshman, Rogers already possesses great hands, route running, and vision, as he breezed by cornerbacks all night long. Rogers will without a doubt be one of the next great wide receiver prospects out of Alabama.
McGILL-TOOLEN
Although McGill-Toolen suffered a loss on Friday, this team is still loaded with talent and a brutal rushing attack that will continue to exhaust defenses. Players like Braylon McReynolds and Anthony Eager were highlight machines against Pike Road and will continue to be huge factors for McGill-Toolen this season.
Braylon McReynolds- RB
McReynolds had himself a night against the Pike Road defense, where he rushed for a ridiculous 242 yards and 4 touchdowns, consistently moving the chains and making plays for McGill-Toolen. With his speed, vision, and elusiveness, Reynolds is a chore for defenses to try and stop. He is able to sneak his way around defenders, and once he gets to the second level, it is almost a given he will make a huge play for his team. With such an incredible start to his senior season, McReynolds is going to have a monstrous year ahead of him!
Anthony Eager- WR
Eager kicked off his junior season in a fantastic manner, returning a deep kick in McGill-Toolen’s territory all the way to the house for a touchdown, and also received a dart from Aaron Carabin that went the distance. On that play, Eager had one of the most beautiful routes of the game, where he used his blazing speed and leverage to fly by the corner for a 53-yard touchdown, making it look plain easy. With Eager’s smooth change of direction, hands, and speed, he’s going to continue to be a huge target for the McGill-Toolen passing attack!
MOVING FORWARD
It shouldn’t be a surprise to see Pike Road continue to win games with the incredible offensive lineup they have, and with the return of Quinshon Judkins Quinshon Judkins 6'0" | 195 lbs | RB Pike Road | 2022 State AL on the horizon, it is only going to get worse for future defenses. Pike Road is facing Calhoun this Friday in their first home game of the season, and it should be a very physical, exciting game!
McGill-Toolen has an early bye week this week, giving them adequate time to prepare for the tough 6A matchup they have on September 3rd with Saraland. Saraland has a ton of offensive talent that McGill-Toolen will have to focus on, with players like quarterback Anthony Mix Jr. and wide receiver Jarel Williams Jarel Williams 6'3" | 175 lbs | WR Saraland | 2022 State AL playing as well as anyone in the state.
