On Saturday August 28th, 2021 I decided to go scout at The Bellaire vs Fort Bend Elkins game. This was an amazing game it went down to the wire. Bellaire came out on top with a score of 23-20. Both teams played great, but I do believe Elkins had better players overall. Unfortunately, Elkins just made one too many mistakes that cost them the game. However, I will be covering Elkins’s defensive strengths in this article.
#90 Taurean Crawford DT, HB Sr 6’2 280 lbs
Elkins had a very strong defense especially in the form of their defensive line. All of the defensive lineman were fast off the ball and very aggressive. Taurean Crawford is a defensive tackle he played both right and left side. Bellaire’s offensive line had a hard time handling Taurean fast and aggressive play style. Therefore, to keep Taurean from getting by they started putting two offensive lineman on him. Taurean hasn’t committed to any colleges yet, but he has an offer to Howard Payne University.
#28 Matthew McGill RB, LB Jr 5’7 170 lbs
Matthew McGill plays both ways I saw him 1st on offense playing a great running back. Right after that, Matthew started playing linebacker on defense. Matthew was great support on defense he never took a play off. I would say he had a more noticeable difference on offense than he did on defense.
#13 Andre Pittman DE, TE Sr 6’3 215 lbs
I was very impressed with Andre Pittman performance as a defensive end. Andre is very tall, fast, and athletic I would say he was the most troublesome defensive lineman on the field. Andre always found his way to the backfield managing to get two sacks. I’m expecting to see a lot of college offers for Andre in his senior season.
#11 Kendall Jackson DE, TE Sr 6’1 235 lbs
Kendall Jackson is another impressive defensive end. Kendall isn’t as tall as Andre, but he’s just as fast and a little bigger than Andre. Kendall had quick reflexes and fast hands making it hard to block him.
#15 Braeden Thompson DB, WR So 5’10 165 lbs
A newcomer to Elkins Varsity defense is defensive back Braeden Thompson. Braeden is still green didn’t leave the biggest impact on me. I do see potential in him Braeden was able to properly cover his man and didn’t let him get far. Braeden also had an amazing interception towards the later half of the game that lead to a pick-six the only defensive touchdown all night.
