The 7A state championship game last year came down to two Gwinnett County teams (Grayson and Collins Hill) and the Buford Wolves went on to win the 5A state title last year.
The county is also home to impressive programs like Norcross, Greater Atlanta Christian, Mill Creek, Brookwood, Parkview, North Gwinnett, and many more. The area is full of impact tight ends and Prep Redzone breaks down which ones you need to keep an eye on this fall.
Stone Bonner – Brookwood
The Broncos will be without last year’s two leading receivers so there is going to plenty of opportunities for rising senior, Stone Bonner. Already a big target in the passing game, Bonner could be one of the leading TE’s across the state due to his size, reliable hands, and the fact that he’ll be needed on just about every offensive possession. Broncos QB Dylan Lonergan Dylan Lonergan 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Brookwood | 2023 State GA is one of the best 2023 prospects in the country, and he’ll need weapons to throw too all season. He’s got a big arm, and he’ll be looking for Bonner early and often in just about every game. The big 6-foot-4 220-pounder is coming off a nice junior season where he caught 29 passes for 446 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was the team’s 3rd-leading receiver last year, and there’s a chance he’ll bee leading the team in 2021.
Lawson Luckie Lawson Luckie 6'3" | 225 lbs | TE Norcross | 2023 State GA – Norcross
Already known as one of the nation’s top tight end in across the country in the 2023 class, the 6-foot-3 225-pounder already holds major offers from Georgia, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, among others. He’s a true do-everything tight end who can make a big impact not only in the passing game, but blocking in the run game as well. He’s detail oriented, strong, physical and athletic. Last fall, Luckie caught 35 passes for 390 yards and three touchdowns. As he enters his junior season this fall, the Norcross standout is expected to take the leap as one of the leaders of the team on the field, in the locker room, and in the classroom. He holds a 3.85 GPA and has the potential to have a monster third year in 2021 on the field.
Kylan Fox – Grayson
One of the top young tight ends in the state, Fox is a big target at 6-foot-5 210-pounds who already has the size od a D1 tight end. He was easy to notice in practice and showed the ability to make a big impact in the passing game. He’s young, but the rising sophomore should get a lot of balls thrown his way. He can overpower defenders in the run game due to his size and length, and he’ll continue to get better there as he puts on more weight and muscle. He’s a smooth runner for his size and has an. opportunity to have a breakout season in his second year. Fox already holds two offers from Tennessee and Ole Miss, and with a big season he could see many more coming his way.
