Games to watch
Reed City @ Cadillac (Thurs) – Two great 2020 teams will try to earn a week 1 W this Thursday in Cadillac. Going undefeated in the regular season last season, Reed City looks to continue its hot streak. They’ve had some senior losses, but look to rise up with seniors such as QB Xavier Allen, and MLB Logan Langworthy. On the other side, Cadillac had an excellent 2020 falling just short in the state championship game against Country Day. Cadillac has many returning starters, and they’re led by RB Collin Johnson Collin Johnson 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Cadillac | 2022 MI , C Ryan Sanders, and SS Keenan Suminski.
Oscoda @ Tawas (Fri) – A big rivalry matchup, the Oscoda owls travel to Tawas for a huge game. The Owls had a big 2020 advancing all the way to the final 8 of the playoffs before a forfeit cut their run short. Oscoda is led by bigtime C Kaden Schirmer Kaden Schirmer 6'3" | 280 lbs | OL Oscoda | 2022 MI , and RB/LB Anthony Ward. Tawas on the other hand was winless in 2020, but as we all know anything can happen in big rivalry matchups. If Tawas is going to win, RB Chad Herrick and TE Caden Raleigh need to have excellent games
Gaylord vs Lake Fenton (Fri) – Neither team did very well in 2020 with both going under .500. Needless to say, Both Gaylord and Lake Fenton are looking to gain momentum with an early-season victory. Gaylord has some big talent with Sophomore TE Brady Pretzlaff and Senior C Connor Abraham. On Lake Fenton’s side, they need big performances out of QB Reid Shumaker Reid Shumaker 6'0" | 165 lbs | QB Lake Fenton | 2022 MI and DT Mason Skyner.
Boyne City @ Ogemaw Heights (Thurs) – Both teams have been performing well as of late, with Ogemaw Heights going 8-3 in 2019 (1 game in 2020), and Boyne going 6-3 last season with a pair of playoff wins. Boyne has some nice talent headlined by QB Jack Neer and FS Kaden Jewett. On the side, Ogemaw Heights has lots of young, but unproven talent. Headlining this talent is Sophmore MLB Jack Fatching and Jr. FB Jace O’Grady. It should be interesting to see how both teams do this season.
COVID-19 cancelations are still a possibility. Every week there will be a chance that games are postponed for this reason. Make sure to check local news outlets, Prep Redzone Twitter, and other sources to make sure any game you’re looking to see is still on.
