A great way is to expand our prospect database by opening up our DM’s on Twitter to your film! Don’t shy away, honest feedback, as well as strengths and weaknesses, will be discussed. All in the name of getting more players in our rankings and thus, more exposure. Send us your film at @PrepRedzonePA, as well as at my personal Twitter, @PRZPAvic.
Carter Speyerer Carter Speyerer 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Daniel Boone | 2022 State PA | 6’0, 190 | QB/LB/S | Daniel Boone | 2022
Speyerer is a prospect I’m excited to watch this fall! Stud QB who can dish the ball from awkward angles 40+ yards downfield. He’s mechanically efficient, he doesn’t waste time getting the ball high and right and ready to release after the snap. He’s at his best when plays break down as well as on the run. Numerous big-time throws were made when Speyerer faced pressure or was forced to escape the pocket. This is a tough trait to coach, he’s got it. He’s a proficient timing passer inside and out. He’s a tough overall player who is willing to take short runs in for first downs as well as touchdowns in the Redzone. His velocity change is a plus, understands when to throw on a rope, or with some air. Don’t sleep on Speyerer the outside linebacker. I saw some serious instincts out of the kid.
Luke Testa | 6’1, 200 | RB/LB | Malvern Prep | 2023
There isn’t much to work off of with Luke Testa from a tape standpoint. Nonetheless, diving into his socials and digging up as much as I could, I found a hardworking gym rat who boasts a great frame suitable to play running back or linebacker. He’s also a lacrosse player. Added to our watchlist.
Sean McFadden Sean McFadden 6'0" | 210 lbs | LB La Salle College | 2023 State PA | LB | Lasalle College | 2023
McFadden’s game was previewed in a piece earlier this year. I didn’t get to see McFadden in person as I thought I did, so nothing necessarily new on the eval. Kid can give you reps at linebacker, inside or out. He wants to beat you with athleticism, which he has plenty of. Really good hand usage to disengage from blocks. Plays like his head is on fire when coming downhill, yet still balanced. He’s a high-motor player who is a playmaker on special teams as well. Love his open-field burst and his first step. I hope he capitalizes on his previous season and continues to flourish at LaSalle.
Joseph Sarjoo | QB | Monsignor Bonner | 2024
Not enough tape on Sarjoo to give a proper eval. I did see him in person at a 7v7 event in Delaware, I came away impressed with the kid. Yes, he’s mightily undersized but is still young. What I liked most from his performance was his confidence in his ability to throw into tight windows. He threw against some serious competition and wasn’t afraid to try right passing lanes, which from a young player is a plus in my eyes. Some additional highlights show an accurate short-area passer who can deliver short routes on time. Excited to see what becomes of the young prospect!
Kahir Thompson | 5’7, 140 | WR | West Catholic | 2024
Thompson is another prospect with limited film that I have added to the watchlist. Most of tape is from weekend practices and 7v7 events. He shows good foot speed that helps him separated after the stem. He’s close to home, so seeing what he develops should be doable when attending West Catholic games. Looking forward to it!
Leonard Sherrod III | 6’2, 175 | ATH | Gateway | 2023
Sherrod III carries the ideal frame you’d like out of a defensive back. He can provide reps at WR as well. He’s a reliable backend safety that his squad trusts to play single-high coverage with. He seems to be involved in turnovers, whether forcing or recovering fumbles. He’s around the football. He understands when to take on blocks to stuff running lanes before they open. Can excel as a hybrid LB/S to help in run support. Would love to see more reps on how he handles pass coverage.
DeVaughn McClinton Jr. | 5’10, 165 | DB/WR | Woodland Hills | 2023
McClinton may be the best surprise on this list. Finding players like this is what these Mailbag pieces are about. McClinton provides alignment versatility, showing he can produce as a slot corner as well as outside the numbers and at safety. Outstanding ball awareness. Active hands want to disrupt passes as well as strip ball carriers to force fumbles. I can’t decide where I like the kid more, in the slot where he is involved as a blitzer and in space, or outside, where he can stay in-phase with wideouts downfield and lockdown. Love this prospect.
Zay Greir | 5’9, 155 | WR/CB | Shady Side Academy | 2023
Last the home-run hitter Zay Grier. Solid acceleration after the catch, great overall speed. Grier does most of his damage from the slot. He’s the best play-maker of this group, he’s seen taking screens caught behind the LOS 20+ yards downfield. He displays good open-field vision and good lateral agility to cut away from defenders. He serves as the team’s punt return man as well, for good reason. Grier also provides reps at corner where he seems to make a play on the ball whenever targeted. Another trait before we go, his willingness to block is a plus!
