We recently highlighted three Missouri Class of 2022 standouts who pledged to Division I schools – cornerback Toriano Pride Toriano Pride 5'10" | 170 lbs | DB Lutheran North | 2022 IL (Clemson), quarterback Tre Baker (Abilene Christian) and cornerback Jordan Coleman Jordan Coleman 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB De Smet | 2022 State MO (Ball State) — as well as recaps of the 2022 prospects who have committed so far and a look at the top 2022 prospects who are still yet to make their college decisions.
This time we are back with a look at three new Division I commitments from the Class of 2022, including one who continues the recent trend of players from his conference who are headed to Ohio to play college football.
Blair Schonhorst Blair Schonhorst 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB CBC | 2022 State MO , DB, CBC
Schonhorst entered high school as a wide receiver and made the switch to cornerback to help strengthen a position of need for CBC High School. It has proven to be a wise decision as the 6-foot, 175-pounder committed to Ball State on Sunday after considering multiple Division I offers.
Ranked as the No. 120 prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2022, Schonhorst has been one of the better cornerbacks in the St. Louis area and state of Missouri the past two seasons. He led CBC with five interceptions as a sophomore, playing opposite Cameron Powell (SEMO), and then had 15 tackles in six games during a COVID-shortened junior season where opponents didn’t throw to his side very often.
Schonhorst will join two former CBC teammates at Ball State in wide receiver Chevalier Brenson and safety Jordan Marshall Jordan Marshall 6'1" | 200 lbs | DB CBC | 2021 State MO . He will also be joined in the defensive backfield by De Smet’s Jordan Coleman Jordan Coleman 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB De Smet | 2022 State MO , who also pledged to Ball State recently.
Ashtin Rustemeyer Ashtin Rustemeyer 6'2" | 285 lbs | DL Lutheran-St. Charles | 2022 State MO , DT, Lutheran St. Charles
The No. 45 prospect in the Class of 2022 in Missouri, Rustemeyer committed to Arkansas State on June 26 after taking a visit to the campus earlier in June.
Rustemeyer, a 6-2, 270-pounder, picked Arkansas State over several other options, including offers from Army, Ball State, Buffalo and some Ivy League schools.
Jett Sutton, S, Oak Park
A 6-0, 195-pound safety/outside linebacker from the Kansas City area, Sutton made a verbal commitment to the University of North Dakota on July 1.
Sutton picked North Dakota over offers from Lindenwood, Washburn, Northwest Missouri State and Northern State, among other interest. He reported the offer from North Dakota on his Twitter account on June 18 and committed about two weeks later.
