Continue ReadingCommitments happen a lot but many are not often reported, so this will be the introduction of weekly articles breaking down some commitments that have happened recently and what these colleges just got in the players that committed. Take a look at five players that committed just yesterday to their future colleges where they will continue their football careers.
1. David Johnson (SR-WR) – Hooks High School (Hooks, TX) – UTSA
Johnson has got both speed, excellent route-running skills and is a great returner. Throughout his tape, he is able to outrun pretty much any defensive back on the field which of course leading to a lot of scoring. Although, he is also excellent on short routes as his power allows him to blow through any tackles to get the yards or even a score off of a screen pass. UTSA just got an excellent receiver with a lot of potential.
2. Christian Williams (SR-OL) – Fort Bend Marshall High School (Missouri City, TX) – Louisiana
All offensive linemen need to have power and Williams certainly does. Going off of his tape, it is incredibly difficult to break off of a Williams block especially because his footwork allows for him to stay ahead of the play so the defensive linemen or linebackers can not even move around him. He is essentially a fast brick wall and Louisiana is likely excited to have someone with such strength coming into Ragin’ Cajun ranks.
3. Terrance Brooks Terrance Brooks 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB Little Elm | 2022 State TX (SR-DB) – Little Elm High School (Little Elm, TX) – Ohio State
2020-21 Season: 47 total tackles, 1 sack, 9 pass break-ups, 3 interceptions
Brooks has received multiple offers from various states across the country including the likes of Alabama, Florida, Oregon and Texas, but Brooks committed to the Buckeyes not long after he visited the school on June 21st. He previously played for John Paul II High School in Plano, Texas before transferring to Little Elm. He has a football family background as his father, Chet Brooks, played for Texas A&M and the San Francisco 49ers. Judging by the tape, it is easy to see why Brooks is highly regarded because he is an opportunist and a ball hawk. He also seems to be in the perfect spot to make the play and his speed and determination can even stop what would be an easy touchdown, and he will not hesitate to sprint across the field to make that happen. Ohio State is already one of the most dangerous teams in the country, but adding Brooks, that will be exciting to see.
4. Landon Samson Landon Samson 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Southlake Carroll | 2022 State TX (SR-WR) – Southlake Carroll High School (Southlake, TX) – South Carolina
2020-21 Season: 74 receptions, 1,281 receiving yards, 15 receiving touchdowns
Samson also received multiple offers including from Nebraska, Arkansas State, Baylor and Boise State, but the wide receiver chose South Carolina to continue his football career. He was named the District 4-6A Offensive Player of the Year for the 2020 season. It is easy to see why so many schools looked at Samson as he can make some really tough catches and he has the speed of a cheetah out on the field. On top of this, he is also hard to take down which with this combination makes a deadly wide receiver. South Carolina just got another target for their offensive.
5. Sheridan Wilson Sheridan Wilson 6'4" | 275 lbs | OL Argyle | 2022 State TX (SR-OL) – Argyle High School (Argyle, TX) – Texas Tech
Offensive linemen do not get nearly enough press as they should but Wilson has made the rounds with multiple offers from schools such as TCU, Washington State, Arizona State and Colorado, but the Argyle offensive linemen will be taking his talents to Lubbock, TX to play for Texas Tech. This is a player that is electric off the snap and is ready to make any size defensive linemen headstrong, and judging off the tape, he always comes out on top and can slam down just about anyone that he is assigned to. This is a fun player to watch and will be a great addition for the Red Raiders.
