Last season, the Badgers racked up eight wins and played well in the playoffs. However, this season Arkadelphia has plenty of experienced and talented players returning for the 2021 season. We are going to take a look at a few of the players expected to have big seasons for the Badgers as well as look at some of the key games for Arkadelphia this season.
Looking first at the offensive side of the ball for the Badgers. Donovan Whitten Donovan Whitten 6'3" | 220 lbs | QB Arkadelphia | 2023 State AR will take over as the signal caller for the Badgers this season. Whitten has shown that he has a strong arm, but what sticks out to me is just how well he moves around on the field. He is a dangerous quarterback when he escapes the pocket. Cade McBride will have an opportunity to see some snaps in 2021 as well. However, folks should keep an eye on Whitten he has all the tools to impress a lot of people this season.
Meanwhile, the rushing attack for the Badgers has the potential to be one of the state’s best. Jaishon Davis Jaishon Davis 6'2" | 200 lbs | ATH Arkadelphia | 2022 State AR will see the bulk of the carries for the Badgers this season. Davis has the ability to hit a second gear and is dangerous in the open field. Last season, Davis rushed for 1,070 yards and 19 touchdowns. Davis is looking to improve upon those numbers this season. Look for Allen Buckley and De’Angelo Buckley De’Angelo Buckley 5'10" | 155 lbs | RB Arkadelphia | 2024 State AR to earn some carries this season as well. The rushing game for the Badgers is going to be electric this season.
The wide receiver position for the Badgers is one that has several versatile players that can split out wide. Braylon Bailey Braylon Bailey 5'10" | 190 lbs | WR Arkadelphia | 2022 State AR made some big plays in the passing game last season and is looking to have a big 2021 season. Bailey was on the receiving end of 23 passes for 313 yards and five touchdowns. Jaishon Davis Jaishon Davis 6'2" | 200 lbs | ATH Arkadelphia | 2022 State AR does not just make big plays in the running game, he also is a dangerous wide receiver. Davis caught 16 passes for 385 yards and six touchdowns. No matter where Davis lines up, the defense is forced to account for him. Alex Loy Alex Loy 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Arkadelphia | 2022 State AR will see time at the receiver spot as well. Loy has a knack for getting open and he hauled in receptions that kept drives going last season. Loy hauled in 27 passes for 369 yards and three touchdowns. The fourth receiver to watch out for is Tripp Campbell Tripp Campbell 6'2" | 190 lbs | WR Arkadelphia | 2023 State AR . Campbell has the size to be a threat in the red zone at 6-2 and 190-pounds.
On the defensive side of the ball, defensive end Max Wilson Max Wilson 6'2" | 250 lbs | LB Arkadelphia | 2023 State AR is going to be a player to watch for the Badgers. Wilson has that rare mix of power and speed and he used it well last season. Wilson racked up 42 tackles and three sacks in 2020. He has the potential to have an excellent 2021 season for the Badgers. Lamont Jones Lamont Jones 6'1" | 140 lbs | DB Arkadelphia | 2024 State AR works in the secondary for Arkadelphia. He is going to be a player to watch over the next few seasons. Jones is extremely athletic and that fits the mold for the Badgers.
2021 Prediction:
Arkadelphia is extremely talented and should have no problem claiming a playoff spot this season. Challenging for the conference crown this season is not out of the question. The key games to circle on the calendar are Nashville, Joe T. Robinson, Ashdown. Those three games will likely help sort out the conference championship.
