The final days of June and opening few days of July included verbals from three of the Palmetto State’s best tailbacks, a kicker, an offensive lineman and a warp-speed defensive back. In the last week alone, we saw these athletes all announce their next moves.
Reggion Bennett Reggion Bennett 5'9" | 170 lbs | WR Trinity Collegiate School | 2022 State SC , Trinity Collegiate, Buffalo
The 5-foot-9, 170-pound high school running back likely transitions to receiver in college, where his speed will stand out more than his size. He’ll also have an opportunity to get early return reps, something that will allow his vision to do even more damage.
Kazarius Adams Kazarius Adams 5'8" | 170 lbs | RB Gray Collegiate Academy | 2022 State SC , Gray Collegiate, Georgia State
Much like Georgia State did with Green Sea Floyds’ JaQuan Dixon JaQuan Dixon 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB Green Sea Floyds | 2021 State SC in the last signing period, it targeted a smaller-school South Carolina tailback who was consistently off the charts. Adams rushed for nearly 1,900 yards and 19 touchdowns last fall after he went for 1,631 and 28 as a sophomore.
Drew Stevens Drew Stevens 6'1" | 175 lbs | K North Augusta | 2022 State SC , North Augusta, Iowa (Pictured)
Stevens won’t be the first South Carolina player to head to the Midwest, even though it isn’t common. Still, his ability to kick in a relatively more diverse climate than the rest of the state in North Augusta should eliminate some of the cold-weather concerns. Stevens could be a consistent name in Iowa City for the next few years.
Bennett Galloway Bennett Galloway 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Chapin | 2022 State SC , Chapin, North Carolina State
Galloway is part of a dynamic offense at Chapin, his strengths both carrying and catching the football giving the Eagles an extra gear. Galloway’s next stop will be in the ACC, where North Carolina State could be primed to make a move.
Ahmarion McLeod, Indian Land, Elon
With the ability to play all five spots on the offensive line, McLeod’s versatility and size (6-foot-3, 285 pounds) made him a lock for college ball. He appears head to Elon, where he’ll have the chance to continue to develop.
Nick Emmanwori, Irmo, South Carolina
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound safety/linebacker stood out some during his 100-tackle junior season, but his recruiting went next level the last few months. He announced his offer from the Gamecocks in June and committed less than a month later.
