The Oilers finished the 2020 season 6-2, with only one loss in the regular season. The team should have great confidence entering 2021 as they return several key players from last year.
Ryan McIntyre Ryan McIntyre 5'8" | 150 lbs | QB Mt. Pleasant | 2022 MI returns at quarterback for the Oilers. Mcintyre is a great athlete who can create big plays through the air and on the ground. He finished the season rushing for 350 yards, and two touchdowns in just seven games. You can tell that McIntyre is confident running the offense by the poise he plays with (Hudl).
The running back position should be strong for the Oilers as they return their second-leading rushing from 2020 in Da-Vee Abinojar Da-Vee Abinojar RB Mt. Pleasant | 2022 MI . Last season, Abinojar rushed for 477 yards and 3 touchdowns. He finished with an average of 6 yards per carry. He is very fast and is capable of breaking long touchdown runs. His longest touchdown run was an impressive 84 yards (Hudl). Kory Davis Kory Davis RB Mt. Pleasant | 2022 MI is another key offensive player that will be back in 2021. Davis made big contributions to the rushing and receiving departments in 2020. He rushed for 202 yards and 6 touchdowns. Davis also added 151 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, the Oilers return Max Humphrey. Humphrey totaled 59 total tackles in 5 games played. Kory Davis Kory Davis RB Mt. Pleasant | 2022 MI also plays on the defensive side of the ball. He is a hard hitter that plays fearlessly (Hudl). Davis will help the Oilers continue their trend of tough, physical defense in 2021.
Mount Pleasant plays in the Saginaw Valley League- Red Divison. This league features Midland and Midland Dow who are always good football programs. Midland won the league last year and was the only regular-season loss for Mount Pleasant in 2020. The game versus Midland this year may be the biggest game of the year for the Oilers and may decide the conference title.
