Class of ’23 Rankings Update: Stock Risers
In this article:
The 150 ranked players from the previous update in April have been grinding since the end of the school year to now. But after finishing the evaluation process for this update, it was clear these nine prospects needed to be moved up in the rankings. Some have caught the attention of Division I programs, and some are ready to put recruiters on notice this fall.
Calvin Clements Calvin Clements 6'7" | 295 lbs | OL Free State | 2023 State KS – Free State, 6’7”, 275, OL
Clements saw the largest increase in rank out of the group, leaping all the way to No. 32 in the class. This comes after the huge offensive lineman received offers from Kansas, Kansas State, and Iowa State over the past few months. He’s been sharpening his skillset and has shown he’s capable of playing guard and tackle, although he may project as a tackle at the next level.
Maxxwell Ford Maxxwell Ford 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB St. Thomas Aquinas | 2023 KS – St. Thomas Aquinas, 6’3”, 210, QB
Ford is quickly becoming a quarterback to know in the state, as he cracks the Top 25 in this update to become the 23rd ranked prospect in the class. He’s had a great summer so far, being named a Top Performer while at the KC Varsity Combines and the Sharp Top Prospect Combine. Ford has sparked some Division I interest as well, being invited to a few camps at Kansas State and Kansas. Look for him to take a big jump in his development as a junior.
Camden Beebe Camden Beebe 6'3" | 300 lbs | OL Piper | 2023 State KS – Piper, 6’3”, 310, OL
The Beebe family has been known to produce some Division I talent, and Camden is looking like another Beebe brother that will make it to that level. The Piper product moves up 14 spots in this update, making him the 14th ranked prospect in the class. He performed well while attending camps at Missouri and Kansas State in June, and even received an offer from the Wildcats during the camp. Beebe should continue to rack up offers over these next two years.
Miles Wash Miles Wash 5'11" | 220 lbs | LB Derby | 2023 State KS – Derby, 5’11”, 200, LB
If people are putting together a list of juniors that should have a breakout season, Wash needs to be towards the top. He’s gotten stronger in the weight room and has looked explosive during his offseason training. Wash also attended a showcase in Texas earlier this summer and displayed great lateral quickness, fluid hips, and a quick break on the ball. The backer has a ton of potential and could be used in a variety of ways as a junior.
Isaac Detweiler Isaac Detweiler 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Axtell | 2023 State KS -Axtell, 5’11”, 170, QB
Arguably one of the best players in the 8-Man Division heads into year two under center. Detweiler had a monster season as a sophomore, accounting for over 2,400 yards of total offense and helped lead the Eagles to a 7-3 record. He was invited to the Sharp Top Prospect Combine and held his own against the higher level of competition. Detweiler moves up to No. 76 in this update and is now the 12th ranked quarterback prospect in the class.
Eric Erbe Eric Erbe 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Chanute | 2023 State KS – Chanute, 6’2”, 185, QB
Erbe is another rising signal caller in a class that is rich at his position. He’s had a busy summer showcasing his arm at several camps and combines and plans to attend more later this month. Erbe also showed off his speed this past track season, helping lead his 4×1 and 4×4 teams to a 1st place finish at state. He rounds off the Top 50 in this update, but don’t be surprised to see him move up again after a strong junior campaign.
Isaiah Coppage Isaiah Coppage 6'1" | 195 lbs | WR Bishop Miege | 2023 State KS – Bishop Miege, 6’1”, 190, WR
The Stags add a reliable target to their passing game with Coppage transferring to Miege this year. Coppage will need to get acclimated with their system, but he possesses the skills to succeed. He’s looked sharp during the offseason and performed well while attending a camp at Oklahoma State earlier this summer. The junior wide out runs crisp routes and displays strong hands. He could see a lot of targets in his first season with the Stags.
Noah Khokhar Noah Khokhar 5'9" | 170 lbs | ATH Hutchinson | 2023 State KS – Hutchinson, 5’9”, 160, ATH
Khokhar’s performance this offseason was a reminder of just how explosive he is. He attended two Sharp Performance Combines this spring and posted some head turning numbers. At one combine, Khokhar hit 35 inches in the vertical, and at another, he was clocked at an impressive 4.35 in the 40. This moves Khokhar up to No. 29, and he is now the 4th ranked athlete in the class.
Hayden Jay Hayden Jay 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Mill Valley | 2023 State KS – Mill Valley, 6’1”, 180, QB
Jay will face the challenge of getting the Jaguars back to the 5A state title game in his first full season being the lead signal caller. The junior quarterback can handle the pressure though, as he has some experience heading into this season. He’s elevated his game during the offseason, displaying good accuracy while attending a camp at Nebraska and competing in the recent KC Elite 7-on-7 Tournament. Jay will have his sights set on cracking the Top 25 this fall.
