Continue ReadingBishop Dwenger is coming off of another stellar season. The Saints finished the year 10-2 and went down swinging in the playoffs. They fell short to Zionsville on the road on November 30-21. The Saints will be without their star and anchor of the offensive line Vinny Fiacable Vinny Fiacable 6'3" | 290 lbs | OL Bishop Dwenger | 2021 State IN . Fiacable was a 3-star recruit who is now an Indiana Hoosier. His departure is a huge loss for the Saints up front but they have some young and upcoming players that could fill the void.
The Saints are led by Head Coach Jason Garrett. In his time with the Saints Garrett has built an elite football program that expects nothing less of a championship every year. They are always well-coached, fast, and can score a lot of points very quickly. They won a championship most recently back in 2018. Prior to that, it was 2015 and the early 1990’s. Everyone knows who the Saints are and when they roll into town they always get everyone’s best shot.
Last year the Saints averaged well over 30 ppg last season and just over 400 yards. On the exact flip side, they would only allow 14 ppg and some of those points in most games were garbage time points. They would continuously hold down defenses and suffocate them. Their only regular-season loss was on the road to Homestead 35-34 in 3OT. It was one of the best games in recent memory.
On the defensive side, the Saints are looking to Colin Vance to have a big year. The LB is known for his interceptions and with them, he has very soft hands when he catches the football. He has decent top-end speed but sometimes it takes him a little bit to get going. It’s never cost him in a play but could be something to watch out for. He’s willing to play coverage on the backend and has the size to help eliminate players in the red zone.
On the offensive side, the Saints will be looking to incoming sophomore Carter Minix-Norfleet to have a role. He’s a very dynamic WR with great elusiveness. He is only 5’8″ and 165 lbs but he is only a Sophomore. It’ll be intriguing to see how tall he becomes as the years go on. He’s been a regular standout in local camps and he’s put himself on the map. He’s a playmaker and someone you just want to get the ball to.
The Saints have expectations this year and those are to win a championship. They fell short last year but we should expect Coach Garrett to have that team ready to go week 1. They start their season against conference rival Carroll at home on August 13th at 7 pm. If you could I would recommend making the Saints a must-see team in 2021 if you’re in the area.
