As many over the past 15 months have been short-changed from the recruiting process because of this pandemic, there are a number football prospects who have visited everything possible – as many camps and combines were held, but will that crash-course exposure that was one month long be enough to overcome all that time lost? That is a question that may not be answered right away – with the transfer portal and other factors making it harder on high school football players.
As we do from time to time, today we will bring 5 Floridians who are starting to get some well-deserved recognition.
2022 – Alex Colas Alex Colas OL Bradenton Braden River | 2022 FL , OL/DL, 6-1, 295, Bradenton Braden River). When coaches go out of their way to talk positively about you, there’s a good reason to believe that the future looks very bright. This is a two-way standout who brings so much to the table – like strength, explosion and being very coachable. This is a hard-working young man on and off the field and that is why he is one of the prospects who will stand out during the season.

2022 – TyRese Coleman (DT/OG, 5-11, 260, Orlando The First Academy). Talk about a line prospect that has everything going for him. On the field, he has learned to versatile, playing on both sides of the ball. His strong (325 Bench – 495 Squat) and his grades (3.6 GPA – 20 ACT) are what every college coach is looking for. The real deal student/athlete. Like so many, his summer has been busy as he gets himself ready for his senior season.

2023 – Anthony Famularo Jr Anthony Famularo Jr 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Freedom (Orlando) | 2023 FL . (MLB, 6-1, 225, Orlando Freedom). It’s not often that you get a top 100 prospect walk on your field – and that happened with this quality football talent made a move from 8A state runner-up Kissimmee Osceola when his father got a job in Orlando. What this program gets here is a worker. Any way you slice it, this is a young man, who plays this game hard and is always around the ball. While he was playing out of position at Osceola, he will get his chance to play more in the middle of the field, which should tell college coaches plenty.

2023 – David Laws Jr. (RB, 5-9, 201, Tallahassee Rickards). There is no getting around the work that this young man put in this off-season. Running, catching and putting his mind in the right frame will go a long way over the next two years for a program that finished second this pasty season among 5A schools. He is strong and athletic. In addition to what he does on the football field, this is someone who also hits the books (3.1 GPA) as well.

2022 – James Poulos James Poulos OL Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian | 2022 FL (OC/OG, 6-2, 280, Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian Academy). During a 6-1 season, this was definitely a focal point for this program up front. From either center or guard, his technique is impressive, always knows where to go and engages from whistle to whistle. He is quick (5.03 laser 40 time), always getting stronger and showcasing his many skills as a run blocker or pass protector. As much as he brings to the table as a line prospect, his work in the classroom has been impressive as well – with a 4.2 GPA and 1320 SAT.
