Continue ReadingThis season is huge for the class of 2022. This class in the state of MD has had that last chance mindset since the season was cancelled in 2020. We will see some big jumps from Sophomore year film to Senior year film; with huge strides in size, speed, and technique. 2022 prospects have had to mature as football players tremendously over this extended off-season. We will get into a list of 5 that I believe will burst into this 2021-2022 season as dominant ’22 prospects.
Nigel “Jet” Henderson, CB, 5’10 173lbs, Calvert Hall (Baltimore, MD) (In featured photo above)
Nigel is emerging as one of the top DB’s in the Baltimore area. This summer he traveled to Texas and won the FBU-Dallas DB MVP and a ticket to FBU Top Gun. Prior to FBU Nigel won DB MVP at the Game Academy “Last Chance” Camp in VA, Beach. To compliment those awards he’s showcased his polished technique and talents at NextGen Orlando, Under Armour All-American invitational (MD), UCF, Coastal Carolina, University of Maryland, & JMU. I’ve had the chance to speak with someone on the inside of his journey, and get some info on his character. The kid down right wants it, he’s a grinder, always looking for knowledge, tips and opportunity to compete.
Nigel shows to come down and make sure, body on body tackles, which is valuable in a cornerback. Impressive textbook man to man technique shown in his camp film. During press he has the hands to match the feet. Currently has 0 offers which I expect to change very shortly after a couple games. Has only been on one visit to Georgetown. Excited to see Nigel and ’23 prospect KP Price KP Price 6'2" | 175 lbs | DB St. Frances | 2023 State MD team up in that Calvert Hall secondary.

Kolt Pearce Kolt Pearce 6'6" | TE Gilman | 2022 State MD , WR, 6’7 200lbs, Gilman (Baltimore, MD)
Possibly a defensive nightmare in the MIAA. Kolt has been a busy prospect this off season who happens to pop up everywhere and is on a lot of radars. He has displayed his skills at various events such as ESPN300 combine at IMG, 2020 The Show by NextGen where he was named 2nd team All-American, Pylon All-American Experience with team Florida Elite, and Battle: Team Flex Tournament with East Coast Volt, where I got a chance to see him in action. His college visits, camps, & workouts are beginning to stack up as well with household names like Georgia, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Florida State, Navy, Virginia Tech, and home town University of Maryland. So far Kolt only holds an offer from Navy.
As a two sport athlete, basketball and football, I am not too concerned about athleticism. At 6’6+ he will have to show that he can move with explosiveness. As imagined during 7-on-7 events he is a mismatch for about everybody on the field. If you can get it to him 1 on 1, more than likely he will come down with the ball. I’m excited to see if he can carry his off seasons momentum into the regular season. He will have to show that he is not just a tall body to land offers from those interested schools. All eyes are on him, his potential is through the roof!

2020 Cancelled Season 2-Game Highlights
Darrell Scott, CB, 5’9 160lbs, Gwynn Park HS (Brandywine, MD)
Darrell has been having a monster off season, dominating 1on1s at college exposure camps. Along with his impressive technique, he’s also dropped some eye catching test numbers. At VTO Sports camp in November he ran a 4.38 40, laser time, and jumped a 35.8in vertical and NC State prospect camp. His performance earned him a VTO Sports All-American Nomination, Defensive Back MVP at Ed Obrien’s All State Preps camp, UA All-American Camp invitation, & an invite to The Show by NextGen. When it comes to on campus college camps he’s been seen displaying his ability at Marshall University, NC State, ECU, Liberty, William & Mary, and JMU. Ending his offseason Darrell landed an offer from Arkansas Baptist College and had a visit at Old Dominion.
Technique , speed, ball skills, body control, footwork, quickness, and confidence is all there. I had a chance to speak with Darrell while observing the FBU Baltimore camp, he was not participating. His demeanor is exactly what you look for in a DB, confident but not cocky. While watching the 1-on-1’s he would consistently dissect receivers routes pre-snap and tell how the DB could/should win the rep. Darrell has been in great hands this offseason under former Philadelphia Eagle CB Roc Carmichael and the 1% 7on7 organization, I cant wait to see what this athlete can do in between the lines this August.

Quavel “Eric” Thornton , WR/DB 5’8 165lbs,
Baltimore City College HS
Originally from Maryland, Thornton is an out of state transfer from Camden Catholic Highschool in Cherry Hill, NJ where he played slot receiver. The kid can make defenders miss and is absolutely dangerous in open field. Quavel is an elusive playmaker that has the potential to help his team light up the scoreboard this fall. I had the chance to see him in action at the MD Battle tournament where he consistently made plays for 1Motion Sports. This off season he’s displayed that he is hard to get a hand on in the open field with actual football movements that will translate well in full contact gameplay. As for college exposure so far Thornton has competed at Florida Atlantic University prospect camp and Towson University 7v7 camp.

Ayo Tifase, DT/RT, 6’5 295, Concordia Prep (Towson, MD)
Ayo recently burst onto the scene with an Overall MVP winning performance at Maryland’s premier OL/DL Showcase ,The Gauntlet. Dominating on both sides of the ball he’s caught some eyes and built some momentum going into this 21-2022 season.
