This is always a big time for prospects who want to make their decisions before they get started on high school ball going into the fall. We’ve seen some of the state’s best make their college decisions in the last few weeks, and many made their commitments earlier this week.
Here are two peach state prospects who recently committed to play at D1 programs this week…
Justin Williams Justin Williams 6'0" | 205 lbs | RB East Paulding | 2022 State GA – RB – East Paulding
Arguably the best running back in all of West Georgia, Williams is a tough, tackle-breaking machine who is coming off a fantastic junior season where he rushed for 1,477 yards and 19 TDs. He also helped in the passing game as he totaled 286 yards as a receiver. The three-star has great size at 6-foot-0 200-pounds which has led to offers from Nebraska, West Virginia, Minnesota, Louisville and USC. In the end, it was the West Virginia Mountaineers who landed his commitment, and Williams could see early playing time there once he gets to campus. He’s a tough runner and can get tough yards in short down situations, and he’s great around the end-zone. The Mountaineers love to throw the ball around, and Williams has the ability to help there as well. Not only does he show reliable hands for a bigger back, but he can also help in pass protection as well. Look for him to be one of the state’s leading rushers as a senior this fall.

Felix Hixon Felix Hixon 6'3" | 280 lbs | DL Jackson | 2022 State GA – DL – Jackson
Between Atlanta and Macon is where you’ll find one of the top defensive line prospects in Middle Georgia. At 6-foot-3 285-pounds, Hixon chose to commit to South Carolina and play for new head coach Shane Beamer and the up-state Gamecocks. Hixon chose the Gamecocks over programs like Georgia Tech, Virginia, Wisconsin, among others. He plays like a bulldozer in the middle of the field with an outstanding bull-rush that allows him to overpower smaller opposing linemen. Hixon has a great first step off the ball and can get into the backfield with ease. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he knows how to deliver a hit. He bends well for someone close to 300-pounds and plays with good leverage when going against someone his size. He can beat his opponent in a number of ways and still has plenty of room to improve his game as he continues to develop his mechanics and overall technique. His best football is ahead of him, and he has a lot of potential to turn into an impact player for the Gamecocks.
