Continue ReadingNow that June visits are over and we’re fully into the summer, it’s become “commit season” for top prospects across the state of Georgia. This is always a time where major prospects may decide to make their decisions before they get started on high school ball going into the fall. We’ve seen some of the state’s best make their college decisions in the last few weeks, and many made their commitments this week as well.
Here are some peach state prospects who recently committed to play at D1 programs this week…
Caleb Wooden Caleb Wooden 6'2" | 195 lbs | DB Archer | 2022 State GA – DB – Archer
Two years ago in Auburn’s 2019 class, the Tigers signed four-star defensive end Colby Wooden out of Archer, one of the top defensive line prospects in metro-Atlanta. Now, the Tigers have landed a commitment from his younger brother, Caleb Wooden Caleb Wooden 6'2" | 195 lbs | DB Archer | 2022 State GA , a three-star defensive back and one of the more versatile defenders in Gwinnett County. As a junior last season, Wooden lined up against some of the top teams in the state and had to cover an impressive receiver every week throughout the season. Wooden held his own through a brutal Archer schedule and will now take his talent to the SEC. The 6-foot-2 185-pounder has great size and will bring some physicality to the position group on the Plains.

Tyus Washington – TE – Lee County
We’ve written a ton about how deep the TE class in Georgia is for the 2022 class, and one of the very best from South Georgia has made his commitment to an SEC program. Washington, 6-foot-4 230-pound weapon with good size and toughness, committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks over UCF, Boston College, Cincinnati, among others. Not only does his frame and vertical allow him to be a major threat in the passing game, but he’s such an impact blocker as well in the run game. His physical nature and length allow him to dominate at times on the edge and did a great job of opening up holes for talented running back Caleb McDowell Caleb McDowell 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Lee County | 2021 State GA . Washington already looks like an SEC tight end physically and is coming from a winning program that does things the right way.

Savion Riley – ATH – Kennesaw Mountain
One of the biggest winners from the camp circuit this spring, Riley saw a flurry of offers come his way in June, and it didn’t take long for him to commit to one of the the up and coming programs in the ACC. The 6-foot-2 200-pound athlete committed to the Duke Blue Devils, giving them a big weapon in the receiving game. Riley does a great job of catching the ball down the field in 1-on-1 situations and he can change direction on a dime. He has good speed for his size and he’s big and strong enough to break tackles from smaller defensive backs. He has the vision of a running back and is excellent in the screen game. He snatches the ball well out of the air and has great burst to get upfield. He high-points the football well and can make a tough grab even when a defender is in great coverage. Riley is one of the most underrated prospects in the state, but that could be changing real soon.
