The Bowling Green Bobcats have a great group of guys that are hungry for a state title. This season, they are loaded with talent returning on both sides of the ball. The Bobcats’ main objective is to run the ball down opponents’ throat and to continue their dominant “11 hats to the ball” philosophy on defense. All of their players are extremely talented, and there are four athletes on the team that scouts really need to know about.
RB Charlie Bowen Charlie Bowen 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Bowling Green | 2022 MO , 5-10, 190, Class of 2022
Bowen is one of the leading rushers on the team. He is a fast and very physical runner whenever he has the rock in his hands. Last season, Bowen ran for 669 yards and scored 8 TDs. Not only he can dominate on the ground, this power back can catch like a receiver too. Bowen had 103 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He will be one of the running backs to watch this season.
RB Cooper Kiel Cooper Kiel 5'10" | 175 lbs | ATH Bowling Green | 2022 MO , 5-10, 175, Class of 2022
Kiel is another downhill back that won’t hesitate to make contact with defenders. The senior running back is very elusive and is able to get to the outside. Last season, Kiel ran for 501 rushing yards and scored 6 TDs. He also shows his speed on kickoff returns as well. Kiel will be one of the athletes to see not only on offense, but on special teams as well.Â
LB/TE Gunner Bryant Gunner Bryant 6'2" | 195 lbs | LB Bowling Green | 2023 State MO , 6-2, 195, Class of 23
Bryant is the top dog of the Bobcats’ defense. He flies to the ball every single play, going 100 miles per hour. The 6-foot-2 linebacker may not play in the secondary, but he sure has the ballhawk mentality of a defensive back. Last season, Bryant racked up a total of 85 tackles, 8 TFLs, 5 sacks, 6 interceptions, and a pick six. His athletic performance earned him 1st Team All EMO and All District. The junior athlete not only dominates on defense, but he shows out on offense as well playing tight end. He had 194 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns last year. College coaches will be all over an athlete like Bryant.Â
WR/DB Owen Niemeyer Owen Niemeyer 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB Bowling Green | 2022 MO , 6-0, 175, Class of 22
This kid is not a player to mess around with. Neimeyer is probably one of the slept-on receivers in the Central Missouri area. He catches anything that’s thrown to him, and he is very elusive shaking off defenders in the open field. Last season, Neimeyer caught for 228 yards and scored two touchdowns. On the defensive side, he is a lockdown corner. Neimeyer has great man coverage skills and always makes a play on the ball. He had 27 tackles and three interceptions last year. This is one of the athletes scouts have got to check out this fall.Â
