Many Class of 2022, 2023, 2024 and even 2025 prospects are starting to receive their first offers and the older prospects have been able to take visits to schools, officially and unofficially, to try to narrow down the process.
In the past few weeks, three of the top Class of 2022 prospects in Missouri made college commitments. Here is a quick look at those three prospects…
Toriano Pride Toriano Pride 5'10" | 170 lbs | DB Lutheran North | 2022 IL , CB, Lutheran North
One of the top cornerback prospects in the country, Pride made a verbal commitment to Clemson on June 18 after receiving scholarship offers from many of the top programs in the country, including Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Notre Dame.
A 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback, Pride can do whatever he is asked to do on a football field, from shutting down opposing receivers to coming up and making a big tackle to scoring touchdowns as a running back, wide receiver or kick returner.
Pride, who is expected to transfer from Lutheran North to East St. Louis (Ill.) for his senior season, was part of a state championship team as a freshman at Vianney High School (where he was teammates with Notre Dame standout Kyren Williams) and then won another state title as a sophomore after transferring to Lutheran North.
Tre Baker Tre Baker 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Lee's Summit North | 2022 State MO , QB, Lee’s Summit North
Baker announced his first Division I scholarship offer from Abilene Christian on his Twitter account on June 18 and didn’t waste much time before committing to the Wildcats on Friday, June 25.
A 6-foot, 190-pounder, Baker’s junior season film shows a pocket passing quarterback with a strong arm, good footwork and great touch with enough mobility to move around to give himself time to find his targets downfield.
In nine games last season, Baker threw for 1,420 yards and 13 touchdowns and ran for 120 yards and three scores.
Jordan Coleman Jordan Coleman 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB De Smet | 2022 State MO , CB, De Smet
Ball State landed three players from the Metro Catholic Conference in the 2021 recruiting cycle in CBC’s Jordan Marshall Jordan Marshall 6'1" | 200 lbs | DB CBC | 2021 State MO and Chevalier Brenson Chevalier Brenson 6'4" | 200 lbs | WR CBC | 2021 State MO and De Smet’s Rico Barfield Rico Barfield 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB De Smet | 2021 State MO and has offered a few more for the 2022 recruiting class.
One of Barfield’s high school teammates, Coleman became the next from the MCC to pledge to Ball State when he made a verbal commitment on June 24 following a visit.
A 6-1, 175 cornerback, Coleman recorded 11 tackles in seven games as part of a stout De Smet defense that helped the Spartans finish second in Missouri’s Class 6 after winning the championship the year before.
