Over 100 high school football players from throughout New Mexico – some from as far away as Raton and Las Cruces – participated in Saturday’s Top 200 Football Camp at Albuquerque Academy.
The event, designed for players possessing a strong desire to play college football, was led by about 10 coaches, several from New Mexico Highlands University.
The players were first measured in speed, agility and other metrics before the spirited final segment consisted of position specific instruction and 1-on-1 competition between wide receivers/defensive backs, linebackers/running backs and offensive linemen/defensive linemen.
Several top 2022 and 2023 prospects in New Mexico participated in the camp, including 2023 La Cueva QB [player_tooltip player_id="137862" first="Aidan" last="Armenta"], 2022 Highland LB [player_tooltip player_id="135135" first="Abraham" last="Lopez"], 2022 Valencia OL [player_tooltip player_id="135310" first="Jonathon" last="Croker"], 2023 Albuquerque Academy WR [player_tooltip player_id="137928" first="Kellan" last="Gehres"] and 2023 Goddard ATH [player_tooltip player_id="138088" first="Javyn" last="Morales"], who won the state Class 4A title in the 100 meters on Friday.
