With the high number of prospects that performed impressively we have split the great performances into a few articles. In this article, we will continue our look at some prospects that are continuing to perform well on the camp circuit and at workouts in team camps.
Cooper Wilcox Cooper Wilcox 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Greenbrier | 2022 State AR -Quarterback-Greenbrier-2022
We already knew that Cooper Wilcox Cooper Wilcox 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Greenbrier | 2022 State AR was a dangerous quarterback when he is able to escape the pocket. He has shown that he has the arm strength to make any of the throws to play on Saturdays. The trait that scouts are going to love is just how accurate a quarterback that Wilcox is. Wilcox is a quarterback that has the potential to have a terrific season for Greenbrier and in the process make scouts sit up and take notice. Wilcox is a player to keep an eye on this season, the potential he has is impressive and he will most likely be playing on Saturdays in the fall.
Caden Mimms Caden Mimms 6'3" | 220 lbs | LB Cabot | 2023 State AR -Linebacker-Cabot-2023
The Cabot linebacker had a solid camp in Dallas at the SMU camp. Mimms displayed the speed that he is becoming well known for the in state of Arkansas. He has the speed to cover the receiver out of the backfield or the tight end in pass coverage. The SMU camp confirmed a trait that we already knew existed in that he has the hands to make plays on the football and take it the other way. Mimms is going to be a linebacker that scouts are going to need to keep tabs on this season. He has the potential play division one college football; he just needs to continue to keep up the great work.
Bryce Perkins-Quarterback-Van Buren-2024
The Van Buren Pointers have a quarterback that impressed many at the Prep RedZone Showcase in Owasso over the weekend. Perkins has a strong arm and makes good decisions with the football. He has the accuracy to make all the throws for the Pointers. One trait that I am impressed with is footwork in the pocket. Perkins has all the tools to cause problems for the opposing defense for several years to come. Keep an eye on Perkins, he has the potential to be special.
Ryan Maxwell Ryan Maxwell 5'8" | 155 lbs | DB Fayetteville | 2022 State AR -Defensive Back-Fayetteville-2022
Maxwell has been terrific all offseason and that did not change over the weekend. Maxwell showed why he is one of the best cornerbacks in the state at the Central Arkansas camp. He makes life difficult for opposing wide receivers and he does an impressive job of making plays on the football. Maxwell has the speed to stick with opposing wide receivers and he is going to make life difficult for opposing 7-A West wide receivers. One facet of his game is that he has strong hands, and he is tough to create separation from once he jams you at the line of scrimmage. Scouts should be all over Maxwell this season.
Deorius Cobbs Deorius Cobbs 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Jacksonville | 2022 State AR -Linebacker/Quarterback-Jacksonville-2022
We have examined Cobbs from the quarterback perspective before. For this article, we are going to examine the work he put in at the linebacker spot in Dallas over the weekend. Cobbs has good speed and extremely impressive size at 6-3 and 202-pounds. In Dallas, Cobbs showed that he can drop back into coverage and pick up the wide receiver on passing routes. He has the talent to play on Saturdays and impressive showings like the one in Dallas just continue to show what he can accomplish. Keep an eye on Cobbs, at both the quarterback and linebacker positions.
