Lewis is a tall and long armed defensive back who stands at 6’1” and can play multiple defensive back position on the field and be absolutely lockdown at that.
I was very fortunate to see Champ showcase his talents and impressive stature. He put the clamps on many but the first thing you notice about him is that competitive nature and swagger Lewis brings to the field.
He is a very tough and physical defender and can shut down the best of receivers. His back pedal is smooth and shows some smooth hip work. Champ can flip his hips and take off to trail a receiver and has the awareness to get his head around and make a play in the ball.
Also shows great speed and awareness on the field. His ability to be a leader on defense and bait QBs into throwing his way was just phenomenal and in my opinion Lewis was one of the best corner back prospects in his class.

When speaking with Champ back in February or a March of this year , he was still in the decision process of his recruitment. Many colleges were and are probably still interested in one of Louisiana’s best corner backs in the state.
At the top of his list was the University of Virginia, Oregon State and West Virginia of his total of 18 Division I offers. Champ had a visit scheduled with Oregon State but after he saw the beautiful scenery surrounding the University of Colorado and facilities. Champ felt like he didn’t need to see anything else or any other campuses anymore.

Champ should be a very special player to watch at the next level for the Buffs and he should also put on a strong senior season for Warren Easton. Keep your eye out for him this season. He will be a name you undoubtedly hear about on the defensive side of the ball.
